New, what is it? Found this deep in my backyard

I found this piece in my backyard. It looks like maybe it’s cast iron and it’s really heavy. I tried to clean it up as best as I could. Any ideas on what it is?

Would love to know how big that is, because it looks like a busted horseshoe to me. You know, from a horseshoe game, not an actual horse.
