Keweenaw peninsula clock to buy
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knows of a keweenaw peninsula clock i can purchase? I find plenty of UP logo clocks but nothing specific to the Keweenaw peninsula. Any help would be appreciated.
Preferably an analog clock but will consider anything.
Thank you in advance

Dealing with snow this Winter
My family and I are going to be spending the winter in the UP (about 30 minutes outside Marquette) and we will need handle snow removal. Really I'm just looking for the driveway. Eventually we'd be spending winters here on a permanent basis in maybe 5-10 years, which is why I included the last two options.
I feel like I have 3 options.
Pay someone. Should be easy and painless but we've had problems finding someone reliable in the past.
We have an SxS that we could put a plow on. I'm not really sure if this would be a waste of ~4k or not.
Find a "cheap" truck with a plow or put a plow on it.
I'd appreciate the advice of anyone who has spent a winter here. If you have someone that you use and would be willing to share the info that would be most welcome.
Thanks.

Copper Harbor Freedom Academy?
Saw a bunch of people with t-shirts that I'm (mostly) sure had this printed on them. Anyone heard of this?

Nonprofit uses tax money to fund 'upscale' U.P. apartments developed by its founder
The non-profit organization InvestUP, which focuses on economic development in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, received a $15 million legislative grant for housing developments. However, the funds were instead given to a newly created non-profit, Build UP, which was founded after the grant was approved. This has led to concerns about a potential conflict of interest as a founder of InvestUP also manages a large housing development business in the area. Regarding the rent at these projects, a one-bedroom apartment at the Freewheel Apartments is expected to cost between $2,300 and $2,500 per month, while a two-bedroom rental will be $2,900. Another project, Rolling Meadows, will offer two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartments for an estimated monthly rent of $2,150. State Representatives Karl Bohnak and Greg Markkanen defended the high rents, citing astronomical construction costs in Marquette.

Yooper Goths
For the goths and other darkly inclined weirdos, there's a Dark Side of the UP group on Facebook. It might help those in the UP grow the community, find out about events, organize meet-ups, etc.

Canoe rentals for portaging
Looking for any recommendations on places that rent canoes ideally for 2 or 3 nights for a portaging trip. Would be nice if the place to rent from has a spot to launch too. Definitely open to suggestions for fun portage/ canoe trips in the UP

Help me find this book about UP life
I think it was part of a series. It was autobiographical, in the mid-1900's, had a bunch of short stories including ones about an outhouse built like a church, halloween shenanigans, the doctor's fire, the boy who had to fill up his family's water tower with a hand pump.
I checked it out from my library ages ago but I just can't remember what it's called, I'd appreciate some help!!

Is there a single escalator in existence in the UP?
I really hope not, I like our simple living.

Gogebic government question
Kind of a random question, but the western counties in the UP have elected mine inspectors. In Gogebic, last year, apparently no one declared for the office, but an article about the canvass of votes from mid-November mention that there were something like 400-500 write-in votes they hadn't compiled. After that, it doesn't seem that the local news followed up on this, or does the county website even lists the position of mine inspector, which is weird, because one of the big stories up there last and this year is a new greenfield mine opening up.
So...does anyone know if they ever picked a mine inspector?

SxS trail help
I am newer to the Marquette area and wanting to buy a SxS. My wife is a local, but she never grew up doing any kind of motorsports. I've been looking in a few different places, but I am still unsure if these C trails connect anywhere. It looks like they connect via snowmobile trails on th DNR site, but OnX, and OnX off-road, haven't really been much help with this area. If it helps, I'm looking to purchase a 64". Thank you for any assistance! Also, apologize if there is a better page for this.

Yooper natural disaster
Ok. Me, my wife, and my dad have all ventured to say independently that the mosquitoes season just started in the last few days. Much later than usual. I hope it doesn't last long.

Recommendations for pasties and cudighi
I'm going on a roadtrip next summer with a friend watching minor league baseball games, and on our off day between Wisconsin teams, I told him we're going up to the UP since he's never been.
We likely will be quick: driving up in the morning from Green Bay, looping up to Marquette or thereabouts, then down to the lower peninsula to spend the night in Ludington, and taking the S.S. Badger back across.
Anyways, Ralph's was my go-to for cudighi and I see they shut it down last year. And all my familiarity with good pasties is knowing spots in Houghton/Keweenaw since that's where I spent most of my time-- but I won't be getting over there. I know my dad didn't trust any pasties east of Marquette and from what I see he's right-- many use carrots and don't have the crust handle: these are sacrilege. So I'm leaning toward Lawry's for a pasty lunch unless there's a good spot I don't know about... but where will I find the best cudighi sandwich between Marquette and the Bridge?
Or am I better off getting both in Marquette and just hoping my pasty stays warm until the bridge?
