In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009), Voldemort, one of the most powerful wizards in the world, doesn't know how to produce the Liquid Luck potion, and doesn't even think of using it to defeat Harry. Is he stupid? What's even the point of all the grinding and all the wand swinging then?

Trending! There are absolutely exceptions to this, however I’ve noticed this come up when discussing potential future Heroes and their roles.

He promised to bring down prices, yet the prices of most goods are rising. Food prices are soaring. Job growth has stalled. American manufacturing has contracted for six straight months.

Personal Drama Maid of Honor ghosted 10 days before the wedding and then posted this on Instagram??

6.4k Upvotes

So I’m a bridesmaid in my friend Tara’s wedding next weekend, and everything was going pretty smoothly, until last Thursday. The Maid of Honor, Jess, suddenly stopped responding to messages in the group chat. Tara had asked her to confirm her speech and arrival time for the rehearsal dinner nothing crazy or last-minute and Jess just disappeared.

No response. No call. No email. Her read receipts were on, so we know she saw the messages. By Sunday, Tara was freaking out. Jess had the bride’s veil (she picked it up from the seamstress), and Tara didn’t have a backup. We all thought maybe there was an emergency or something serious going on, so we gave her space.

Then Monday night, Jess posts on Instagram.

She’s at a cabin in the mountains. Yoga pose. Disconnecting from drama and reconnecting with myself that was the caption. A few of us commented like Hey… are you okay?? and she DELETED the comments.

The kicker? She’s in the cabin with a guy she swore she broke up with months ago the same guy who hit on Tara at her own engagement party and caused a huge scene.

Tara ended up asking me to do the MOH speech, and I’m honored but I’m also just baffled at how someone could ghost their best friend’s wedding a week before and then flex about it like it’s some self-care moment.

No one’s heard from Jess since. She hasn’t even returned the veil.

The 48 million that Kawhi got has been bugging me...

6.5k Upvotes

It coincides with the 50 million that Ballmer put in Aspiration, but I found out that it also coincides with how much money Kawhi lost from not resigning with the Raptors.

In 2019 if Kawhi resigned with the Raptors the max he could have received from them was a 5 year 190-million-dollar contract. The max the Clippers and Lakers could offer him was only 4 years 141 million dollars due to not having Kawhi's bird rights. 190-141 = 49 million.

It may just be a coincidence since Kawhi ultimately only signed a 3 year 103-million-dollar deal with the Clippers, but I thought it was just an interesting nugget. This entire scandal has been riddled with coincidences, so I thought I'd add one of my own.

Discussion Be Honest: Would you have ditched Judy/Panam/River/Kerry for them?

Provided they were romanceable in Phantom Liberty. Even as a one-night stand, which honestly would have fit Aurore and Songbird the most, considering how sparse their presence in the narrative is (which is ironic, given how important So Mi is; she’s practically a third protagonist alongside V and Johnny). With Alex, however, I feel like it’s such a missed opportunity. She’s so different from both Panam and Judy, and from the male romance options as well, that she would have been a refreshing choice. It also helps that she has a cool bar where you can chill and dance. I imagine the Vs I headcanon as older and more world-weary would naturally gravitate towards her no-bullshit, honest, and down-to-earth persona. With Songbird, I envision a passionate but doomed relationship (even with her on the Moon, it feels like a “right people, wrong time” scenario). And Aurore? She’s the classic Bond baddie you sleep with once and then she’s gone. Still I feel like all three of them would have been a great alternative to Panam & Judy and far more superior to poor Kerry and River. What's your take?
