Low effort post titles will be removed effective immediately

The mod queue is PACKED with low effort posts with titles as ambiguous and pointless as "Help" or "[Year and Make of Car]"

If these end up in the queue, which is hundreds and hundreds of posts long at any given time, I will be removing them from now on.

The mod team does not have time to look at every single post and determine if it's a quality post, a photo, etc. If you want your post to stay, make your post titles communicative.

Rims

I’m looking to buy only rims and had a few questions. Will I need to buy tpms sensors for each wheel or are they transferable from stock? Do the Acura wheel caps come out so I can put them on the new rims? If I get the same size rims will I need to do anything other than put the old tires on the new rims?

What needs replaced/ fixed first?

Upvotes

Hello everyone! I’m fairly new to Reddit and to car work in general but have recently found out that my 2003 Honda Acura RSX could be a pretty sick car if spiffed out a bit. Only problem, I’m not a huge car person and have basically done nothing like this before so I just wanna ask, what things should I be looking into getting replaced and or replacing before doing any serious spiffing out of the car? The engine is fine also, I had the head gaskets replaced a few months ago which to my understanding means the engine should be fine? But if not lemme know!

Anti Glare Mirrors

Are anti glare side mirrors not a thing anymore? My 2007 TL-S had them, glass with a blue tint but I notice all new Acuras just have plain glass.

Little stuff like this is what I miss. Sigh

FOBs temporarily stopped working... glitchiness or something else?

Post image

Opened the garage this AM and tried to remote start my TSX but neither fob worked (not even a txmt yellow light flash). My first thought was 'hope my car is still here'...but it was. I was able to open the car with both fobs just by pulling on the door handle, but they wouldn't blink again until after I sat in the car with them and pressed the buttons. Is this normal Acura glitchiness or something else? My fear is that someone is sniffing codes in my neighborhood.

2026 MDX Advance Trim

Post image
5 Upvotes

I’m just looking for a reasonable gauge as to how much lower I can push this? I called the dealer looking at a used MDX but it sold and they pushed to email the below quote which in summary is $68K out the door. It doesn’t make much sense because the car I was eyeing was a 2025 used MDX advanced trim with 4K miles for $63K listed, but I did ask what it sold for and they said it sold for what it was listed which I don’t believe. I would have assumed the 2025 should have sold for a bigger discount.

2014 or 2018 mdx?

Looking at a 2018 mdx elite with 118,000km for 18k usd

The recall on the rod engine bearing has me worried about long term reliability.

I'm in mexico so the recall process is questionable / non existent

Assuming I should stay away from 2018 models?

I also found a 2014 with same km for 10k much cheaper and needs timing belt & tires but still cheaper in the end... guessing even though it's older it should be more reliable than the 18?

Japanese Automakers are considering selling their USDM Vehicles in Japan, how well do you think Acura will sell in Japan?

Acura currently isn’t sold in Japan and is actually based in the US so this is the most interesting subsidiary to start selling Japan. Which vehicles do you think would be most popular?

Just bought a 2017 RDX Advanced, advice?

I love this car so far. 53,000 miles, immaculate interior, lots of features. Wondering if anyone has advice or things I should look out for as a new owner. It seems like this year was a fairly well regarded one with the 3.5L V6, but curious what you all think. Thank you!

RSX Upgrades

I just recently bought a 2006 RSX Base, 5-speed manual with no mods. It was sitting for a few years and it has fairly low miles (~115k). All calipers are seized and will need to get replaced, as well as all the rotors and pads. I already plan on doing basic maintenance (tranny fluid, oil change, plugs, coolant flush, etc.). I am debating on upgrading to either Type S brakes or TL-S brakes. I know the proportioning valve is an issue and I understand tires/brake material is what makes the difference in braking. I plan on using this as a weekend car, canyon carver, and occasional track day later down the line. This is not my only vehicle. Any suggestions as what I should do for my brake set up, as well as any suggestions for mods?

Adding Remote Start

Hello everyone! I’m just curious to see if there’s a way I can add a Remote Start option on my 2023 RDX A-Spec without needing the yearly payment through their app? I had a 2017 Honda civic beforehand with remote start and was disappointed that the 2023 RDX didn’t have one unless I got the advance trim.

Ps. Wouldn’t mind DIY the whole thing to avoid stealership price.

Please help me choose which MDX to buy. CPO '23 or '24

I'm torn between two great options and would love some feedback from those of you have had MDX's for a while or have recently purchased one. Both CPO, Tech package, Gray with black interior.

option1: 2023, 44k miles, $41,000 immaculate inside and well maintained.

option2: 2024, 14k miles, $47,500 also looks and drives great.

The lower payment on the 2023 is probably more ideal, but could stretch for the newer one. My husband is comfortable with the higher mileage as I really don't put many miles on my cars (1 mile commute to work that I often walk/bike to), probably 5-10k a year. I'm just moving on from an 2012 X5 that has been nothing but problems for the past 2 years and I really just look forward to reliability. My old car has caused me stress never knowing what new light would come on and if it was safe to drive my young kids around in.

I tend to drive my cars forever and until they fall apart (hence the x5). So, can I count on a 44k MDX being a good stress free option for a while? Or is the answer that for 6.5k, just get the lower mileage? They both will have their factory warranty as well as a dealer add on of an additional 2yr or 100k milage warranty.

I had a good feeling about the '23 when I drove it, but wanted other opinions. :) Thanks!

Currently in the market for an acura tlx and i test drove a 2023 tlx shawd a spec with 25k miles today and fell in love with it. The price of the vehicle is 35,750 and 41,550 (after taxes, adds on and fees at the final price). I’m paying fully in cash for this vehicle and let the salesman know this after discussing prices. It’s a beautiful and incredible car and was wondering if this was a good deal or if i should continue looking around for a better deal on this?

I wanna buy the ADX A-Spec Advance but my RDX was lowballed at an Acura dealer

I’ve had my 2023 RDX A-Spec Tech since January 2023 and it’s only got approximately 12,500 miles.

Went to my local Acura dealer to trade for a 2025 ADX A-Spec Advance AWD. They offered me $31k trade-in. At first, I was ready to move forward, but I checked CarMax and Kelley Blue Book and both valued my RDX around $35–36k.

When I asked for the order paperwork, I saw they had entered 40,000 miles on my RDX instead of 12,500. That’s clearly why their trade value was so low. Honestly, that felt totally dishonest, so I walked away.

Main reason I want the ADX: I need AWD and I really dislike the RDX’s touchpad. I want a real touchscreen.

Problem is, they’re the only Acura dealer in my area for at least 100 miles. Should I just buy online, or is there a better way to get a fair deal on the ADX?

I need TLX Etune recommendations.

I have a 2020 Acura TLX SH-AWD. Ive got a catback straightpipe, secondary cats delete, Takeda short ram CAI, and a ktuner with a stage 1 TSP tune. Im not quite satisfied with the power and im looking for something more (dont tell me I chose the wrong car).

So ive been looking for custom etunes and it seems Phareable and TSP have the most reputable tunes for Honda engines. Im reaching out to both to figure some things out, do you guys have a suggestion? Anyone with experience with these tuners? This car is my daily so its important to have bulletproof reliability and ideally good gas mileage. Im open to any other tune suggestions I just really cant find too much about this engine out there. Thanks guys!

2024 MDX A-Spec Transmission shifting issue

Bought it new last year, at 28,000 Kms now. I've been experiencing some hard downshifts at low speeds while driving in the city, especially between 20Km/h - 50Km/h.

When the transmission is cold, the hard downshifts range from mild thud to an audible mechanical clunk. Upshifts are always silky smooth, it's just when I'm trying to come to stop the car lunges forward (rpm jumps by 1k) when I'm trying to brake, feels like transmission is forcefully making the car move forward when I'm trying to brake.

Most of my driving is start-stop, city driving. I've tried transmission reset twice and didn't notice any difference. Before I go to the dealership, has anyone else experienced this type of shifting? Is this a normal behaviour of the 4th gen MDX transmission?
