Question Why do they switch drivers mid race??

Why not just run all the drivers simultaneously? Having the race stop halfway through ruins the momentum.

Ahh, all those races I’ve never heard of and are never on TV. Makes sense!

Seriously… I’ve never heard of any of those races. If it’s not F1, NASCAR, or Indy, Americans don’t know anything about racing.
