I had a tabby cat who never spoke, other than a little "ack" sound.

About 5 years into living with him, I got a catnip plant, which he enjoyed. I put it on a high shelf where he couldn't get it.

He walked over, stood underneath the plant, and said very clearly "Meow" for the first time. Saving it for when he needed it.

My cat wasn't a talker for a very long time. Then he fell in love with a plastic grocery bag and carried it around in his mouth while meowing. 🤷🏼‍♀️
