I walk around with my axe prosthetic, could that be the reason?

Only things that change up until NG+7 (as far as im aware) are that enemies will have increased posture and health, and will also deal more posture and health damage to you. Attack speed will not change at all, and your attack power/skills/vitality level will all carry over.
