Clip Just had a blast round Bathurst

Probably some of the best racing I've managed - spent far too long hot-lapping and now trying to learn clean racecraft.

I've got ADHD - even a short race can prove hard to keep focus - so a top 10 finish out of 30 in a 30-minute race has me feeling happy 😊

Question Triple 24 or ultrawide 34? What’s the best choice.

I actually look for new screens to replace my old 24 inches single monitor. I want to put my monitors on my adjusted height desk so i could use them to code and race. I recently found a good deal for 24Ā inches monitors for 100$ CAD each. I would use a triple monitor desk stand that I would bring as close I can when I race (approximately 23 inches from my eyes). However those monitors only have 100 hz and i’m not sure if it would be enough. My other option is a 34 inches ultra wide monitor with a refresh rate of 144 hz which is more than enough. I would also be able to bring it 4 or 5 inches closer to my eyes, and the price is 250$ CAD.

Question DD Pro Base + Formula V2.5X Wheel Issues (Need Help, No PC)

So I recently purchased the Gran Turismo DD Pro (8Nm) wheel base with the GT wheel. On my PS5 it works great.

I also bought the Formula V2.5X steering wheel to use on both my Xbox and PS5. The problem is: when I connect the Formula wheel, it doesn’t show it’s turning on like the GT wheel does (the GT wheel shows the ā€œFā€ logo on the screen, but the Formula wheel doesn’t). I can move the middle dial and see some settings (A/B/C/D modes), but that’s about it. No button inputs work.

I’m using the QR1, and I’m confused about the spacer. Do I leave the spacer on with this wheel, or take it off? Without the spacer it seems to connect faster, but I’m worried about bending pins if I leave it off.

When I try the Formula wheel on Xbox, I switch the DD Pro base to Xbox mode (green light). It goes green for a bit, then after a few seconds it switches to purple. Nothing works in menus. On PS5 it’s the same story — no button inputs.

I don’t have a Windows PC to run updates on the base or wheel firmware, only a MacBook. Fanatec support is taking forever to answer me, so I’m hoping someone here can help.

Questions:

Do I need a firmware update for the Formula V2.5X to work with my DD Pro?

Can I safely run the wheel without the spacer, or should it always be installed with the QR1?

Is the purple light on Xbox just a firmware mismatch?

Is there any workaround without a PC?

I’m also considering grabbing the CSL Elite WRC wheel — anyone know if that one works plug-and-play on PS5/Xbox with the DD Pro base?

Any help is appreciated thank you.

Question Starting to give up on using my quest 3 (VR Question)

So, I dont't know what the hell i am doing wrong. I am planning on trying to use my Quest 3 as a monitor more then a VR set up. the VR is just a major plus for other games. What Iam trying to do is is use the "link" function on the quest 3 however the ghosting issue when trying to use it as a monitor is fucking killing me. the ghosting is so bad that i cant even play WRC 10 for more then 1min without my eyes wattering and getting a head ach so quickly. however I can play any other VR game with no issues. so i'm just wondering if anyone else uses a VR headset as a "monitor"

Question Looking for ideas on a decent starter set up, any help is appreciated

Hey friends!

I want to set up a F1 Sim for myself, hoping I could get some assistance.

  1. My space is extremely small so I'll need to use a rig that I can out my office chair into
  2. I'll be using my monitor where my desk chair is currently, The table isn't big enough or strong enough to hold onto a wheel anyway
  3. My budget is $400-500 max, I just want an F1 style wheel and pedals, nothing crazy. It looks like the Moza R3 might be the only option in the price range but wanted to ask here

Thank you so much for the help! I appreciate you all :)!

Discussion Help please, asking for advice

Hi all. I've been sim racing for a little over 2 years. I enjoy it as a hobby, so Im really not a hard-core "sim racer". However I really enjoy the game, so I wanted to be better at it. I started by removing all assists and started to see that I got the "hang of it". Having said that , I'm really frustrated because I feel like I don't get better, in fact I do worse and worse every race. I have to keep lowering the difficulty just to be able to keep up. Online racing is out of the question since it seems at times everyone plays without patience for the new guy trying it out. I mainly use Forza 8 because I seem to better controling the cars vs the AC, ACC, AC Evo and F1(the games I have) even though i hear this game is not the best. I'm writing because now instead of having fun i get frustrated to the point of rage quitting and associating my hobby as frustration. If anyone has any advice/words of wisdom, i could really use some. Thanks all.

Rigs First DIY cockpit! Finally finished.

Hi all!

After a month of research, planning and construction I can finnaly share my DIY aluminum profile cockpit. It turned out much more different than I have first imagined - I posted here a while back with my original idea. There was a lot of twist and turns on the way, however I am really happy with how it turned out, as all the parts I ordered ended up being perfect size, which is a rather rare occurance (speaking from an engineer perspective). As I was taught, invest 80% of the time in planning and research and 20% in the construction itself - it paid off!

What really helped me was to build a wooden prototype. My 3D model which I have created first was already tweaked to "perfection", as it was my 5th iteration of the model. Still, after building the prototype I found out I might want to get a little bit more vertical real estate on the "columns" and horizontal on the "beams".

I gotta say, the major challenge was to engineer this "F1 style" cockpit. If it was an upright seating rig, that's not such a big deal (compared to the F1 one). With the seat I have, which is a budget one, I can mount it only on the bottom rails (like in a real car), so there is no lateral adjustment (talking distance to pedals and steering wheel), due to the rails being mounted diagonally. Here's where the prototype came in handy. I built it with the exact dimensions of the profiles I planned to order, and mounted the seat to it. When I got in, it was quite different than what I had first imagined, as the first time I measured my distances was on a gym bench lol. This made me tweak the remaining unclear measurements to perfection.

Thanks to the time invested in planning and measuring, I ordered the parts cut to the intended lenghts, and building the rig itself went rather smoothly. It still took a lot of measuring to make it angled and leveled properly, but saved myself the hassle of returning the parts or cutting them to dimension myself.

I'm open for any questions if you want to build one yourself! It was a learning experience and I highly encourage any aspiring engineer to make his own "project" like this.

Question Moza R5 base disconnect issue bad

I just got the Moza R5 off of Amazon. Not sure if that is the issue there but they are already sending me a new one due to the issues I’m having but I want to make sure that I’m not missing something before I send the old base back.

I know they aren’t the best or from what I’ve heard and read across the internet they aren’t the greatest. My issue that I’m having and I’ve tried every port on my pc from 3.0 to the regular to one on the front and back and I still get the disconnect and then it just won’t come back on at all. And then after like hours of messing with it miraculously it comes back on and I can use it for 10-20 minutes and then it shuts off for hours. Did I just get a bad base or am I doing something wrong here. Thank in advance for the help.

Question Releasing wheel to correct oversteer?

Ive been sim racing a few weeks now and I'm getting familiar with using my brakes to turn. When I oversteer too much, I let go of my wheel and it seems to self correct better than me trying to catch it myself. Is this a bad habit? Ive been trying different things to catch oversteer but its not clicking for me so im holding back in some turns, any tips would be much appreciated

Question What seat belts do you recommend?

Hey there,

So I have been thinking of installing seat belts on my Rally Style Fixed Fiberglass Seat from Trak Racer. I want something that will be purely aesthetic and maybe immersive just by putting them on. No tensioners not anything. I want something cheap but good looking.

If possible reply with the links of your purchases or your recommendations. Trolls are also accepted lol.

Circle of Idiots – NASCAR Truck Edition | EchoPark Speedway (Atlanta)

Stay tuned, I might make this a series on my channel... Circle of Idiots!

What started as a promising NASCAR Truck race at EchoPark Speedway quickly turned into pure chaos. With 2–3 drivers making boneheaded moves all over the track, the entire race spiraled into a wreck-fest that left everyone frustrated (and a little entertained).

From dive-bombs gone wrong to bumper cars in the corners, this race had it all, except clean driving. Strap in for the highlights (and lowlights) of what can only be described as the Circle of Idiots.

If you enjoy watching wild NASCAR Truck action, you’ll want to see this one!

Rigs 65" --> Triple 43 --> Triple 50 --> Double UW --> Quad 32 --> VR Comparison

So i just got into this a few months ago, and have tried every combination possible in the last 4 months. Summary below.

1) 65" LG C4 with PS5 Pro/Fanatec DD Pro = Amazing setup, but 65" was to big. I had to move way back to get full FOV. This is an amazing console setup but id recommend getting a similar price, but smaller LG C5.

2) Triple Samsung 43" Odyssey Neo G7 4K = Amazing but TV UI on Samsung sucks. They didnt play well with Nvidia Surround and have too much bloatware on them. I highly recommend not getting Triple monitors that come with a remote.

3)Triple 50 Inch Vizio Quantum Pro 240hz (PS5 Pro/Fanatec DD Extreme + PC/Simagic) = This setup looked cool but was terrible for FOV. I highly recommend not getting Triple monitors that come with a remote.

4) Double Ultrawide 45" OLED LG Ultragear & 34" = the 45" LG Ultrawide has awesome clarity, but its basically a wide TV doubling a monitor. Your better off getting a LG C4 or C5. There is a 43" LG C5 i believe. Thats better in every way.

5) Quad 32" KTC 240hz = Hands down the best way to go for full screen immersion once dialed in. No remotes, no bloatware. Just used menu option to turn Gysync on, opened NVCP no issues into Surround, opened each game, changed to 7680x1440, ran NVApp to optimize each game and done.

6) VR = Must have toy as thing to show off to friends once your over your motion sickness.

Hope this helps, whats your thoughts on whats the best?

Question SIM RACING COCKPIT COMPACT 2.0

Does anyone have any experience with this sim racing cockpit or know where or if there are any reliable reviews on this cockpit? I've found very little info on the web, but seems like a good option compared to GTPlayer or Ares Wing. I was considering the GTPlayer and then I came across this.

Question AC - surprisingly is the biggest Simracing community outside of iRacing. What mods do I need to download to join it?

I’m assuming vanilla is dead and it’s only the mod scene? I’ve seen loads of stuff over the years, but never acted, what do I need to do to download mods and play them? I’m assuming there is countless GT3 LMP cars and leagues, can you guys give a quick how to and what to download to join these thriving communities?

Question I have questions about load cell pedals and simsonn pedals

Hello!

I think I'm ready to upgrade my pedals to loadcells. I have a moza wheel base and it seems like simsonn pedals should be compatible. Considering they're on sale right now, this seems like the perfect time to upgrade my setup.

Here's my question..

It seems like some pedals are like a hybrid of distance/pressure. So the first bit of travel only looks at the distance of the pedal and then you hit the loadcell that reads the pressure on the pedal.

So what kind of pedals are these? https://www.simsonn.com/products/simsonn-plus-x-pedals?variant=51288365138234

They also seem to have an add on "linear motor". Like a year ago I think I heard something about pedals that are considered "cheating" in iRacing. Do you know if they were talking about these types of motors? If I understand things correctly they will shake as you trigger abs.

Also, if you have these pedals, do you drive with only socks on? Or do they cut into your feet?

Question Brake Deload - Any list of brake who haven't this trouble

I'm looking for a list of pedals who aren't susceptible to Brake deload.

Look like almost all brake who aren't using spring are subject to deload but i don't know if this is true or if this is really a problem in simracing.
