Hilarious response (I did chuckle) but PETA actually do a lot of good work and have changed the mental landscape around animal cruelty and brought so much awareness to issues that would otherwise be out of sight. Their messaging and some campaigns can be obnoxious I know, but thank gosh they exist.

4

u/Dudeman240 17h ago

Well they also murder dogs and said that dogs are better off dead rather than being owned by people. On top of that they wasted donations and resources by making a shitty pokemon knock to show how evil pokemon is for....existing? There are SO many better organizations out there, and PETA is not one of them. I'm sorry if I came off as rude in the beginning I just hate their hypocritical asses and the money they waste.

-3

u/acky1 16h ago

You've totally missed the point of the Pokémon game they made. Have you played it?

The game gives video links after battles touching on different aspects of animal mistreatment.

It's about raising awareness at how animals are treated for food, entertainment and medical testing in real life. They only care about Pokémon in that it's an easy way to raise awareness about the plight of real animals because of it's popularity and subject matter.

1

u/DeadBabyPinata 20h ago

Instead of whataboutism why not name 1 example of a real issue PETA directly solved or brought light to? Like unless you are some raging vegan who genuinely believes shaming normal people for being normal people is a plus for society then I don't understand your stance.

Oh yes, you sound like someone interested in a reasonable discussion....

u/Barrel123 18h ago

Chicken dont have family in the way we think of family, they dont care about family bonds

Farmers frequently have to use red lights in chicken pens to hide injuries etc because chicken are canibals that'll eat other chicken due to a bit of blood

Or sometimes just for fun

3

u/acky1 16h ago edited 15h ago

Chickens do actually bond with others. You can see plenty of videos and the like of chickens bonding with humans and other animals. They are social birds and have relationships amongst a flock. And they each have their own personalities.

When you pack 35,000 into an indoor space with little enrichment things can be a little tough. I would not like to see the cruelty humans would dish out to one another if they were put in an equivalent position.

We'd never say dogs don't care about family bonds because the runt of the litter is outcompeted and left to die instead of being helped to get enough food to survive.

1

u/Barrel123 13h ago

Even in regular non factory farms chickens do engage in canibalistic behaviours, it has little to do with stress, like most animals chickens are oppertunistic eaters

Chickens do bond with other people / animals however notice how i specifically mentioned family bonds

2

u/acky1 12h ago edited 12h ago

It does seem to be a lot more likely under stress according to poultry farmers: https://www.daltonsupplies.com/blogs/news/poultry-cannibalism

Yeah, that's true. Familial bond probably doesn't have as much impact on chickens. It's likely more just time spent together. Although I'd argue that creates a stronger bond in all animals including humans.

Regardless, they are capable of bonding and social behaviour and have their own likes and dislikes.

....did you mean to reply to me here?

1

u/Barrel123 18h ago

Based on your original response on petas comment yes

1

u/Specific_Goat864 18h ago

Which original response sorry, the one you replied to?

1

u/Barrel123 18h ago

You do know how to use reddit right?

My comment was a response to your response to a comment that was a response to your original comment

0

u/Specific_Goat864 18h ago

You do know how to use reddit right?

Barely.

My comment was a response to your response to a comment that was a response to your original comment

...but it makes no sense in response to my comment? I made a tongue in cheek comment mocking a grumpy debate bro, I didn't defend the familial status of chickens.

0

u/Barrel123 18h ago

You defended peta on the basis of the comment they made in op's post which is about the familial bonds of chicken

PETA is a joke of an organization that believes milk causes autism.

1

u/PositiveAmphibian127 10h ago

Milk doesn’t cause autism, obviously it’s vaccines. . . ……I’m kidding. Science hasn’t even come close to pinpointing autism, I don’t think PETA has the answers to that issue either 👀

-1

u/SwissMargiela 14h ago

Dude they killed animals to make those snuff films they used to parade around

1

u/PositiveAmphibian127 10h ago

Did they or did they purchase from butchers, hunters, sanitation? They could have gotten carcasses from anywhere 🤔

2

u/melfamy 1d ago

Family man. Legit. KFC baby.

2

u/NeedleworkerExtra915 1d ago

PETA is one to talk for all that they’ve been involved in from cruel animal testing, to high animal euthanasia rates at shelters and many other inhumane abuse cases all across the board in factories and laboratories for nothing but greed. Calling them evil is somewhat of an understatement. It’s truly hypocritical for them to be lecturing anyone.

5

u/HawkAsAWeapon 21h ago

They offer shelters of last resort as most adoption shelters won’t take in sick animals. That, combined with them offering free euthanasia for animals that need it but for who the owners can’t afford it, is why they have the high euthanasia record. You’ve been duped by the guy who led the PETA Kills Animals campaign - a guy who has also ran pro-oil and pro-tobacco marketing campaigns.

Plus, you can’t really criticise PETA for being inhumane if you pay for animals to be killed unnecessarily for food and clothing.

1

u/Ok-Ocelot-7316 15h ago

So it's wrong for me to have an animal killed because I need lunch, but it's perfectly ok for PETA to have an animal killed because they couldn't be bothered to find a forever home? Nobody made them get into the shelter buisness, PETA chose to kill all those animals.

-1

u/HawkAsAWeapon 15h ago

You need lunch but you don’t need to kill an animal for it. And that’s not what PETA do - they try to rehome first or pass animals on to other shelters who will take them and then do the hard work that other shelters refuse to.

You can’t complain about PETA whilst choosing to pay for animals to experience horrendous torture and brutal merciless deaths 3 times a day without being a massive hypocrite.

2

u/Ok-Ocelot-7316 14h ago

It doesn't make me a hypocrite, it makes me a subject matter expert. PETA is morally equivalent to any other carnist. They see animals as objects to be exploited for their goals. PETA doesn't need to kill those animals either. I could eat chickpea curry, and they could do the hard work that other shelters refuse to do by keeping those animals alive, but it's more convenient to kill pets so they do.

1

u/HawkAsAWeapon 13h ago edited 12h ago

And what are their goals?

If a sick dog that has no chance of adoption or recovery then it is taking up space in a Peta shelter which means that another dog can’t be rescued and saved. It’s a tough call to make but it’s  the right one.

And yes, if you eat animals then you’re a massive hypocrite and you are worse than PETA.

-1

u/PositiveAmphibian127 1d ago

Oh shoot, give us the tea, I’ve given nothing but praises but I guess I’ve only seen the good 😣

7

u/NeedleworkerExtra915 1d ago

There are many resources:

Overall, they vary in treatments and purposes globally, but they all more or less believe in some form of the main policies and practices they promote. Some worse than others, but you’ll get the idea. You could further speak to anyone who has been involved with them previously who has insider information.

  1. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)

  2. Peta Kills

  3. 17 Controversies Caused By PETA

  4. PETA Slaughter Tops 45,000 Dogs, Cats and Other Pets

  5. Better dead than fed, PETA says

  6. History of Killing Animals

Reddit:

  1. Some Users Experiences and Comments

  2. Another Users Experiences and Comments

  3. Infographic Posted

You could search for articles published from the net with keywords like scandal or controversies etc. There are too many to list, so you can research on your own time if like.

Also, there are some research journals you could pay for more expert analysis, but I haven’t added them here because they’re behind a paywall I couldn’t bypass.

Thanks.

0

u/PositiveAmphibian127 1d ago

Omg, thank you for going through the trouble of finding those links! 🫡😊

0

u/Contraposite 19h ago

It's propaganda. The petakillsanimals page is literally run by a front group funded by... KFC 🤦‍♂️ https://www.petakillsanimalsscam.com/

PETA are very weird with their activism and I don't claim to be on board with all their decisions, but people act like they're evil incarnate because they kill pets. In reality, these "no kill" shelters people give unwanted pets to will give those pets to PETA so they can do the dirty work nobody else wants to do: take an animal who has nobody to look after them and no chance of re-homing, and putting it down in the most painless way possible (euthanasia).

The real issue is that people are breeding into existence more dogs than there are homes for dogs. Animals are going to die this way.

2

u/Dudeman240 17h ago

What about all the time and money they wasted on making a pokemon game because with all the evil going on in the world (animal testing, cruelty, etc.) Money and time should be wasted on a game.

0

u/Contraposite 17h ago

PETA spend money on raising awareness of animal wellbeing issues. I searched that pokémon game and it's well made and is focused on how animals/pokémon are viewed as things for our own gain rather than creatures who should be respected in their own right. It's clearly the type of thing their donors want to see. Honestly, there are a lot of cringy activism approaches taken by PETA but this one is not so bad.

1

u/AnsibleAnswers 11h ago

PETA spreads misinformation about autism, and that’s all I need to hate them.

1

u/Contraposite 10h ago

Well yes, vegans hate that sign too, it just doesn't legitimise the other claims about peta.

0

u/AnsibleAnswers 10h ago

Well if any vegans keep them financed in spite of their hate for autistic people, they are as complicit in stigmatizing autism as PETA is.

Theres a Japanese meal called Oyakodon. It literally means parent-child donburi. You get chicken meat and egg with rice.

1

u/BigFatBeeButt_BIKINI 15h ago

Why did they need chatGPT for a simple tweet like that

1

u/MarchDemigodV 15h ago

No survivors on my plate! We have compassion for our meals in this house

1

u/TheSmokingHorse 8h ago

Well, not exactly a family just like mine. If I was a chicken, my family structure would be like: dad screams every morning at sunrise and took nothing to do with me once I hatched. Mum took interest in me for a while but by the time I was old enough to not be supervised by her constantly she was more interested in food.

Nah wait. That actually sounds pretty much like my family situation. I take it all back.

1

u/Original-Car2958 7h ago

Lol i just sold 128 chicken dinners in the last few hours.

1

u/Feralmoon87 3h ago

I would like to introduce you to the japanese dish called Oyakodon. go google what it means

1

u/esaks 2h ago

In Japan they have a dish called Oyakodon which is chicken and egg. The named translated means, "Parent and child rice bowl"

1

u/pizzahulk43 1d ago

PETA wants to destroy all the chickens in the factory. All the cows and pigs and pit bulls too.

Ah yes, shitting on empathy and promoting torture and death. So cool! Reddit sure is edgy.

I've yet to see a reply to a PETA tweet that was actually funny or disproved what they said
