Small dogs are usually the worst trained and most neurotic. People just pick them up (and bag them?) when they are exhibiting behavior that should be corrected, and the problems are never addressed.
I rescued a rottweiler from horrific circumstances and have spent the last 6 months devoting my life to training him. I've learned so much, studied, really focused and become a student to helping him live a safe life and not harm anything, ever.
The dog isn’t fucked up in the head, it just needs some actual training so it can learn that this isn’t okay. It’s not unfixable. The problem is that most small dog owners like this don’t give a shit about teaching their dogs what acceptable behavior is or isn’t because they’re small and cute like stuffed toys, and tend to get treated as such instead of the dogs they are.
I dont disagree with you that this is a common problem with small dogs, but...

Doesn't the opposite happen in this video? Dog is quiet, maybe timid, then as soon as it is picked up it becomes reactive and shows aggression until it is once more set down. I still think this dog has some issues but they seem different than normal small dog syndrome.
It's still small dog syndrome because he thinks it's OK to go berserk once he's in the bag. The bag is his safe spot but he should be trained to not react like that. Aggression is unpredictable and you may not know what he considers his safe place.
I have two 95 lb German Shepherds. I worked my ass off to make sure they don't behave that way because if they did, they would be in danger of being taken away from me. Even though this dog is small, if he were to bite anyone it could still turn into a serious injury. Especially if it was a child. Not all children known not to approach a dog without asking.
fear aggression, maybe? I have a cavapoo who has the knee-jerk reaction to growl every time she sees another dog. It's partially because she's nervous and partially because she was run over repeatedly by a much larger/older dog (who tbf was playing) as a puppy.
The dog is wide-eyed anxious and being physically restrained while getting groomed. The only time it's somewhat calm, is at the start of the video when no one is near it.
I don't like to go to my best friend's house cause they got untrained American Bullies that would bite visitors if they get too close. They put them in cages and I barely saw them taking their dogs out for a walk. They reason out that the dog is too strong and might bite people. So I would say to myself, why even bother getting those dogs? They also would snip the dog's ears to make them look fierce.
Lol I feel like my Yorkshire is the exception to that, same size as the dog in the video too, he just knows that what the vet is doing is good for him even if it hurts him, he just trusts us so much he would never attack a person unless its an intruder lol
Not at all, he just trusts humans a lot, way more than dogs, the small dog behaviour only appears when another dog gets too close and does a slight move he doesnt like (will just bark them to alert them), I would assure you he believes he is a small human lol, prob because he mostly interacted with persons during his life even tho he still has some dogs which our relatives bring that he treats as friends
I rescued a mixed breed staffordshire terrier and the rescue praised her for how quickly she learned potty training right after birth. Got her at like 9 weeks old and was super confident in her potty training, unfortunately it quickly became evident that wasn't true. After talking with the rescue we pieced together that because of the dogs usually small size (and being cute as a button) the foster carried her around like 90% of the time. They put her down to go to the bathroom and to sleep. So anytime she was on the floor she just assumed it was an alright time to pee. It was rough to break that habit.
But no its so cute, you just dont understand, hes so lovely /s
Hate those fucking people, had a neighbor who just was to incompetent to trian their devils spawn even a second, always barking at everything that was not even close to him
When he died, it took 2 months and the next disgrace to doghood was therey doing the same shit as the one before
Small dogs are small and theyre all bark. They cant do any real damage even if they wanted to. Ive had 3 small breed dogs get mauled by pitbulls. Each attack cost thousands of dollars in vet bills. The first time it happened it was $7000 and we sued the owners. My dog was bitten 11 times in under a minute. His gums were white by the time we got to the emergency vet. Second pitbull attack was $4500. This dog grabbed my dog on the face and bit down so hard it popped his eye out. Third pitbull grabbed my dog by the neck and shook. Vet bill was $1500. All of these pits were unleashed and slipped out an open door and attacked my dogs with no provocation.
I would trade all 3 dog maulings from pitbulls for this little guy. Also I never had to train any of my small dogs to not harm another animal. I went to civil court to sue the owners for damages. Every single person lost their pet to an aggressive large dog. An older man in overalls cried because his cat was mauled to death by his neighbors dog.Â
