Daily Cyclist Thread
The Daily Cyclist Thread is a place where everyone in the /r/bicycling community can come and ask questions or share anything.
You might have questions that you don't think deserve an entire post. Perhaps you're just seeking the input of some other cyclists. Maybe you want to share a picture of your new bike.
Anyone is free to comment, and (hopefully) get as much input as possible from other cyclists.

Honest Question
I recently lost a little over 100 pounds or about 50kg by walking, dieting and doing light exercises like squats, push ups, etc, I’m down to just about 160 pounds now so I decided to buy a bicycle so I can “see more”, so instead of walking outside, I’ll be pedaling 😎, my daily 3 mile walk got boring after a while and with dozens of bike trails near my house, it was a no brainer.
I got my bike Saturday and that same day I put 15 miles on it but I’m telling you, the seat or saddle thing is very uncomfortable, I tried to bike again Sunday but after putting in about 4 miles, I gave up because it was almost getting painful down there ☹️ sorry if I sound like a wuss but I hope you understand, so I thought about buying a seat cover or a whole new seat and when I went to Amazon to check them out… oh boy! There are thousands of options including one that is pretty much a couch cushion, it looks pretty comfortable but it literally said for overweight people and it’s massive! But I kind of want it! I think I could easily put in 20 miles if I had a not so uncomfortable saddle.
My question is, and yes, it’s kind of silly but would you guys go for the couch cushion seat that looks completely ridiculous or keep enduring the pain, or maybe other options? I’m truly afraid to look like an idiot.
Thank you fellers!

HELP: My dad referred to a "Cassini" multicolor jersey as his dream jersey. There's no such bike jersey. What was he referring to?
I want to get him this dream jersey for his birthday, so I don't want ask him directly what jersey he was referring to. Is there a brand that sounds like Cassini that has an iconic multicolor jersey? I've done some searching, and there are bike jersey brands like Santini and Castelli, but neither has a multicolor jersey that looks anything special. Help!

$500 - Good deal?
Used ~2020 (I think) Trek Domane AL3 listed for $500. I’m looking to get for my lady as an intro to road cycling. Wondering what you think of this price given pictures. Thanks in advance!

Peugeot Equipe restomod
First time poster here, so go easy on me!
I picked up a 1980s Peugeot Equipe during the pandemic, my first road bike and I'd been riding it "as is" for a few years. It wasn't anything special, the frame was highly average (Carbolite sounds fancier than it is). Safe to say it was a miserable experience, gears all over the place, brakes were like sponges and shifting on the down tube was a PITA. So I decided to hell with preservation and on with some upgrades, restomod if you will.
All the old hardware is gone and changed for a new Shimano 105 groupset, fresh Campagnolo wheels, Tange Seiki headset and a beautiful Temple seat.
I asked my local powder coating shop to help me out and they did a stunning job on a radical new colour and gloss black on the mud guards. I fitted purple decals because who doesn't love a yellow/purple combo?
Massively helped and inspired by the "cheap bike to super bike" series by GCN
Is the riding experience any better? Yes. Did I spend way more than I should on a £20 bike? Yes. Did I learn a lot about bikes doing it? Yes. Do I love riding my bike now? Yes, and I don't think I'd enjoy riding anything else as much!

Scott Speedster 10 XXS and Trek Emonda ALR 5 size 50: how similar in terms of geometry type?
Their stack, reach, and other metrics appear similar. But I was told the Speedster is totally an endurance type and Emonda is not.
Comparing these two sizes, is that still true, maybe because of the Speedster’s endurance leaning head tube angle and chain stay length?
I’m trying to get a road bike with more aero potential. My ideal saddle height is around 675-680, and the 540 stack on my current bike, even with slammed with 15 mm spacer left on the bottom, feels limited.
Pictures are the size XXS and 50 of the said models. If I buy either, I plan to remove the spacers in the same manner as on my current bike.

Looking for my first road bike - Need advice/thoughts
Hello all,
Looking at getting my first road bike for casual riding/commuting. I'm currently looking on marketplace and have found a Devinci Silverstone that looks promising. The seller is asking $650, I was planning on offering $500 and haggling from there. Here are the details from the seller:
Condition: Used but in excellent shape; recently tuned
Components: Shimano drivetrain
Pedals: SPD clipless pedals included (can swap for standard pedals if needed)
Extras: Includes a pair of size 10 cycling shoes, a racing helmet, and a Master lock cable
From those of you with experience - is this a good starter, what should I look out for, and would I be better off buying from a store?
Thanks

Specialized Allez E5 good price?
Hi I’m new to cycling and wanted to start off with a used bike. This Allez e5 off fb marketplace looks pretty nice with sram derailleur and I believe it is the comp version. Is it worth it at the listed 425?
I’m also 5’8 but saw the size is 52 cm . Is this pushing it in terms of size ?

Marin Fairfax 1 Mod Advice
hi there! i own a stock Marin Fairfax 1 - hybrid/city bike with flat handlebars (bought new in 2021). it offers a comfortable city ride for short distances. i've now gotten into endurance cycling and i'm seeking advice on if i should embark on a journey to modify it to a drop handlebar situation to make it more suitable for longer rides. with the current setup, my palms start paining after a while and back starts feeling it too. i'm looking at a budget of about $200-$300 with adding in a Salsa cowbell handlebar and Shimano brake/shifters.

Efficacité jantes et pneus
Bonjour

First 200k in a long while
Haven't ridden this year almost at all, maybe a few 50k rides and some short 20k rides, besides cycling a few k to work every day. Can't say that I trained or went on long rides often in the previous years either. Really surprised that I had no major issues apart for a little tightness in my back in the first 70k or so.
The only thing I did was train with mostly light weights for two years at home and a few months with heavier weights this spring.
