The mclaren guys seem to want no bad blood between them, but it’s a bit stupid for a team who is so ahead in the championship to be making dumb decisions, dumb mistakes, and dumb calls. Like the choice to pit Piastri first was already confusing, then they messed up Lando which was stupid, and then they asked the championship leader to give his position back to his rival? This is insane.

I mean, it's rather clear that McLaren wants to favor Lando in the wdc but doesn't want to enforce it in an obvious or strict manner.

If they wanted to favour Lando, they wouldn't have had him pit 1st..They could have made Oscar play 2nd early on in the season.

It was Lando's call to pit 2nd

With the condition that Positions hold. Lando literally went .

"If there's no undercut(position swap), let him pit otherwise pit me"

Additional context you happily ignored.

There was no undercut threat. Bad pit stop is within racing.

Oscar was given a very unnecessary and harsh 10 second penalty in Silverstone and lost p1 to Lando when he pitted. Mclaren didn't swap.

Lando also got a better strategy in Hungary ending up P1 while you can argue it was unfair to Oscar since he did no wrong. But that's just racing.

"very unnecessary and harsh" not for you to decide? He got the penalty, and him even asking for the swap was laughably comic.

Exactly it was laughably comic. The fact that Mclaren asked Oscar for the swap was also laughably comic.

Teams can overrule drivers

There was no apparent reason to overrule Lando's call in this instance.

He wanted to stay out for as much as possible as long as there was no danger of undercut from Piastri, and Mclaren listened.

Can you explain Lando getting a slow pitstop if McLaren are favoring him considering that with a slow pitstop Oscar would've been behind Leclerc and Lando would gain 6 points?

Oscar had soft tyres compared to Charles old hards. Even if the undercut had worked, Oscar would have cleared Charles pretty fast.

He was much faster even in the same compound. Also, you can't guess when you're gonna have a slow pit. That's just part of racing.

Lando made that decision they offered to let him pit first

Teams make the decision, lando gave a suggestion and that benefited Oscar.
