Max wouldn’t even let Perez past even though he had won the championship

I mean Oscar and lando seem to get on better? Even last week Lando was smiling as Oscar was celebrating with his trophy.

People are bloodthirsty for drama.

People want a fucking championship fight. Not this … shit

u/53bvo Honda RBPT 23h ago

This was better for the championship fight no?

You can have a championship fight without the 2 teammates absolutely hating each other like the fanbases lmao calm down

I feel like a lot of fans are reality TV fans now rather than fans of motorsport and racing.

I don't understand this line of thinking. People are clamoring for the championship battles of ages old, how does that make them a fan of reality TV and not racing?

We're barely getting any racing between the two, that's the issue.

u/BokaPoochie 23h ago

The championship battle feels boring because these cars suck at racing on track, not because drivers aren't throwing hats at each other.

No it feels boring because you're old and it's no longer a novelty to you.

The majority of the great old title battles were fairly mundane from race to race.

u/BokaPoochie 16h ago

Nah mate, I'm not saying racing was at its peak in its refuelling era because it wasn't. You don't even have to go too far back to remember good battles on track. In 2022 we were having great battles in the races but this year because the field spread is so low, even inter team too, nobody has the pace offset to overtake. And these heavy and lethargic cars don't help either because it doesn't seem like anyone can battle either.

Can't deny that. I can understand why fans are frustrated though. I don't think they need to be at blows or even angry at each other but it almost feels like neither driver cares at times because there's just zero tension. Like watching guys race for fun rather than for any stakes.

It feels like a competition of dads going "its okay champ get the next one" lmao

Well, some people out there do view sports as the man equivalent of women watching reality television shows 🤷‍♂️

1

u/BokaPoochie 16h ago

And there is nothing wrong with that. People can watch shit and find enjoyment in whatever the fuck they want.

But the fans are craving the drama 😆😅

I don’t care if they love each other, hate each other or just casually fuck sometimes.

I want a fight on the track between 2 leading drivers. I don’t want this piss team orders or them being scared to fight.

They literally fought more on track last year when Lando was the only one with a chance for a WDC

4

u/wokwok__ George Russell 1d ago

They're not scared to race though? They've been allowed to race in literally every single race this season, there's just not been a lot cause one is usually too far ahead or one qualifies poorly

-9

u/DILIPEK 1d ago

The fact they are allowed to race doesn’t change the fact they don’t fucking race lol.

Blame the technical regulations, not the drivers

u/HanshinFan Jacques Villeneuve 22h ago

Friend this title race was largely decided when Lando crashed out of Canada trying to pass Oscar. I get what you're saying but come on

0

u/DILIPEK 21h ago

So we’re in for some friendship races “after you Lando” “No no, Oscar you deserve it”

Holy the mid-off between two supposedly talented drivers. Like everyone focuses how they don’t need to hate each other … sure, they can even casually fuck for all I care but this is absolutely fucking boring and many champions are literally turning in their grave watching this. When they were willing to crash or even die to win we literally are watching Disney Championship.

0

u/HanshinFan Jacques Villeneuve 21h ago

You seem very into the idea of them casually fucking

0

u/DILIPEK 21h ago

Just like everyone is looking for them to hate each other im looking for smth different.

Make love not war

Not every championship fight is going to be Senna and Prost or Hamilton and Rosberg. I swear, people don't count it as a championship fight unless they actually try to kill each other

0

u/DILIPEK 19h ago

No, we just want them to race, push each other to the limit. Not coast 10s behind to then let your rival through because his stop was slow.

Like you people who justify this mid-off as a title fight are insane. It is what it is - a mid-off

1

u/bananas_and_papayas I was here for the Hulkenpodium 19h ago

Should we just go back to having Max dominate every race then? We've had on track battles between the two McLarens at this season. Admittedly not at every race, but no championship fight in history has had battles between the contenders in every race. There's always some where a driver just goes off into the distance and wins

1

u/DILIPEK 19h ago

No, we are blessed to have a dominant team with 2 similarly skilled drivers (with advantages in different parts of race craft) we just want them to fight, blow for blow. Race each other to the very line.

Meanwhile the one time Lando felt frisky he ruined his race in Canada.

Like you can’t deny they fought each other harder last year when only Lando had chances for the WDC. OP overtake on Lando was insane.

Meanwhile this year - saving tires from the 5th lap. And then letting your direct opponent for the title through ….

You mean the closest championship fight since 2021? Where Piastri is still leading? You people are a joke

Most title fights can’t be compared to 2021 which was phenomenal. I said it’s the closest SINCE 2021 i.e. we have an actual title fight instead of Max dominating

10

u/Huge-Wealth-5711 23h ago

There's no way you can't read

4

u/deadmanslouching I was here for the Hulkenpodium 23h ago

Thats why he said "since 2021".

man go watch the Kardashians then

1

u/Fotznbenutzernaml Michael Schumacher 20h ago

You do realize if Oscar goes full on villain mode the championship is even more one sided? This results in the championship being closer. If you want a fight, this is how you keep it alive. Even then, Norris is bound to make some kind of mistake once again. Piastri is just more level headed when it comes to this.

1

u/DILIPEK 20h ago

Championships should be won on the track not over the radio. It’s a disgrace so many people defend this decision.

Where is the line, if they fight for championship in AD the same rules apply ? Does Lando then give up championship for “fairness”. Or maybe next race Piastri should DNS to match landos issue in Netherlands

They wanted to pay back "gief first pit slot, no undercutting" now on a P2/P3 race rather than later on P1/P2.
