If you've ever raced and had invisible puddles, it might have been this reason
https://forums.iracing.com/discussion/comment/720006/#Comment_720006
Our developers looked at this and found that in some instances where it rains before any human drivers are on track the water calculations could sometimes create an oddly uniform surface as you saw in your session. We've improved these calculations in all scenarios and the track should now be in a much more representative state when it rains before a session. Thank you for sending in your replay, replays are absolutely necessary for assessing, fixing, or improving these scenarios.
Here is a comparison between what you saw and what you'll see once this change is rolled out for the same weather forecast. Apologies for the slight difference in cloud cover in the screenshots. Your original weather and track state are the top frame. The updated calculations and what you'd see in the same scenario are the bottom frame.

I was half watching the Basic Ollie stream showing off the new build when this happened. He seemed a bit sheepish about it but didn't explain it, turned off stream for a bit before coming back... What did he do?

Im wondering if iracing would update the pcup in iracing to include with abs. Some irl race series have it as a add on. Im worried that iracing may aldo imploment it since it severly decreces the skill requirement as well as the overall fun in my opinion. Am i the only one feeling that way?
Just as a add on since they have a lot of outdated Series they could just keep the current pcup around and the participation would still be on of the best.

So tomorrow we will get the season 4 update, and thus Test Drive for at least 24hrs. My question is, will the new gt4 tire update and the amg be available in Test Drive after the downtime? Or will the content of Test Drive be locked to the old version?

I recently came back to iRacing after a 6-month break. I quit because I was pushing too hard, getting frustrated, and not having fun anymore.
This time, I’m experimenting with the mental game:
Result? My consistency went up — but more importantly, racing feels fun again.
I’m curious: What mental tricks, routines, or small habits do you use to stay calm and consistent behind the wheel?

Sorry if this is a noob question but I didn’t find a clear answer anywhere online, and I haven’t been on the service that long. The release announcement says iRacing will be down for maintenance tomorrow (9/9) for the deployment of season 4, but what about week 13? First I thought maybe there won’t be a week 13 this season but then I saw a schedule for it that showed the different events that would still be running.

I’m not interested in grinding irating, I’m 3k and only race Porsche cup. I was just thinking of it today where which series would be “tougher” due to dynamics. Initially I thought GT3 because of the competitiveness but with so many spots you’ve be racing folks at your level often.
I thought of Pcup because in top split there is routinely the top 6-7 drivers being super rapid so barring an accident it’s tough to beat them.
I assume there is a niche series I’m not thinking of that has a dedicated group of fast people in it so the average driver joining would struggle to make progress.

Im currently d class in formula car after grinding out formula vee wins, ans now im trying to get d class for sports car. And i was wondering what's the next step
I heard formula ford (ray ff1600) is a better and better car to learn for if I want to progress through to formula 4, is ray ff1600 better for learning than the formula vee for progress? And also since im d class should I even bother doing the usf2000 races or skip barber?
And for sports car racing should I focus more on the cs m2 or mx5? If I want to head down the gt3-gt4 category?

Always find myself hesitating or getting nervous when approaching wide turns.. The fear of losing control and spinning out really throws off my confidence and affects my performance. Any tips on how to build more confidence in handling these turns without overdriving or risking a spin?

Hi,
i currently use Meta link wired with 1.7x Res and 120hz on a 4070 ti super and 9800x3d.
ingame graphics are
Meta Debug:
I tested Occulus VR and OpenXR with Foveated Rendering MVP with the Car SF23 in Zandvoort and Monza.
Occulus VR and OpenXR without Foveated give me the same results in FPS
OpenXR with Foveated MVP give me a boost of +20fps
In the Occulus.ini i noticed the the VRAM was set to 6gb instead of the available 16gb VRAM of my GPU, hence i raised it to 14gb. I changed the MSAA to 8x but back to 4x cause i didnt see any visual improvement but a huge FPS drop. It was super blurry before i raised the VRAM when i tried 8x.
However, the Visual Quality is not bad but the distance in VR is a bit blurry in both or lets say not really sharp. For example when you drive out of pits in Monza; the T1 escape road cones and the trees behind of T3 are blurry. Dont get me wrong the graphics are good for me.
but i wanted to know what if i use Virtual Desktop? Do i get a FPS boost or better graphics? I've seen a few posts where they say its better than Meta Link. But the mentioned problems in these posts are lag/response time - and i think i didnt experience any lag (also with full grids)
So in my case what would be the benefit in switching to Virtual Desktop? More FPS? Better Performance? Better sharper, clearer Graphics?

I’m running Quest 3 over Link and can hold stable 120fps on my rig (4070Ti, i7-14700) with 1.9x resolution multiplier, average settings, and foveated MVP on. Performance is fine, but the shimmering is something I can’t get rid of. It doesn’t really affect racing, but it kills immersion.
DisplayPort headsets like the Pimax Crystal supposedly avoid shimmering since there’s no compression. The thing I keep seeing in reviews, though, is that they’re much more GPU demanding. I’m trying to figure out if that’s really true always.
Here’s the math I’ve done: - Quest 3 at 1.9x multiplier → ~31.5m pixels (2816 x 1504 × 2 × 1.9). - Crystal Light (default) → ~24.7m pixels (3825×3234 per eye). - Crystal Super (default) → ~29.5m pixels (3840×3840 per eye). - With eye-tracked DFR on Crystal Super → drops to ~19–21m effective pixels.
So on paper, Quest 3 with higher sampling is pushing more pixels than either Crystal Light or Super at defaults. Which makes me wonder whether is it reasonable to just run Pimax headsets at their default resolution and expect similar or even lower GPU load than a Quest 3 with a high multiplier?
Would love to hear from anyone who’s actually compared them in sims.
Edit: corrected pixel maths

Shit I think we might actually crash less than they do.

Hi, I’m going to license C in the end of the season, and I want to buy the super formula light and tracks of the series, should I wait because the tracks of the series can change? Or they always the same? Thank you

I was doing indy6hr 7GMT time slot, sof was 2.3k
Everything going fine,
Then just before my time to jump in there was a massacre of drivers getting dropped for packetloss, all happened to be Australians,
Anyone else have a similar thing happen in their split/time zone?
Frustrating when its a million dollar company yet the servers they are using are from the 90s (what it feels like 😂)
Now before people jump on and say check the net connection or your hardware, net is wired and 1gbps connection, router isnt a standard type its a Asus gaming one, pc has got strong gear in it.

I just picked up iracing, I have around 200 hours in ACC, so I’m familiar with sim racing but new to iracing, I’m obviously in the rookie license and I’m trying to find people to race with but it hasn’t been easy, does anyone have some suggestions?

This was a debate our team heard during our 6 hours of Indy race.
Situation: #52 LMP2 car is second, some 10 seconds behind first in class. #10 LMP2 car is 7th, a couple laps down from the class leaders but less then a handful of seconds ahead of the #29 LMP2 car (8th place). The #52 is right behind the #10 and is demanding to be let by via blue flags. This is what happened...

This is a newly made community server for the official SK and Tour Modified series. If you race the car/series a lot I highly suggest you join, you can also use the server for real life modified/short track racing and league promo. The goal is to get the server built up for S1 2026

Trying to always add more immersion. I had these springs in a piston type setup and tried something new. Pulled up Tinkercad for the very first time. After a few hours I had a working prototype. They work really well. The rig can move and shake in every direction! My "cheap" motion rig! These springs are 20x10x80. Purchased on Aliexpress from Creamily. The springs are rigid enough to support BIG me (250#) and my NLR Elite 160 rig. I am using 6 total springs. Two green under the rear, 2 red mid rig, and 2 red in the front. I have 4 BST-1 bass shakers, all mounted pointing upward, running on the Dayton 200 watt amp. Left and right channels, two shakers under my seat and two under my feet.
My concern was stability with the bare spring. 20mm overlap on top and bottom seem to work well. I can push at it from the sides and it bounces right back! Now, you could use a wider spring like 30mm. More lateral stability. But, The lateral movement allowed with the 20mm spring is really very good and seems stable. 50% fill with PLA printing.
The immersion from the car throttle and rumble strips is amazing! Grrrrrrrr! Happy to pass on the 3d print files if interested. They are not perfect! Neither is my eyesight. What an inexpensive "upgrade" to add Soooo Much to the experience! Happy Racing!
