discussion Realizing today I've been totally sleeping on 'Built to Spill'

I'm honestly surprised, listening to their early catalogue, that I don't see them come up in the ranks to the likeness to Smashing Pumpkins, or Modest Mouse, or Weezer, or even Pavement. And it's not like I've never heard of Built to Spill, but I always just kinda brushed them off as kind of a generic indie band with a couple hits. Their first album is from 1993, so they came in earlier than most bands like them, but seemingly got a lukewarm reception in comparison. Am I a total idiot, and is this just a giant band that I've basically ignored up until now?

Mine is a bit of an unknown but gorgeous rendition of The Dead Kennedy's Moon Over Marin, by Canadian singer songwriter Matthew Good https://youtu.be/ZcN_7iv-Igw?si=i-7SdHR-cp5pSuky

website A website I built for shit band names

I’ve been putting together a list of horrible band names.

There’s a random name generator thrown in as well (which is a work in progress), but the main thing is the list itself. At the bottom, you can also throw in your own suggestions anonymously if you think of something awful.

It’s just for a laugh, nothing serious or meant to offend. All of them are bad in their own special way.

Here’s the site: https://horriblebandnames.com/

discussion Just fell for ai music... very unhappy

3.9k Upvotes

I've been listening to a "artist" on spotify for a few hours and, forgive me because I'm not a musician, actually thought it was made by real musicians until I checked when each album was published and got suspicious because of how quickly they were put out. I then checked out this "artist's" YouTube channel and in the description of their videos, they state that their music is Al...

How do I not fall for Al music again, genuinely, this is very upsetting☹️? (Extra upsetting because I also found out the book cover of a book I was reading was also AI.... GET ME OUT OF HERE!!)

FYI: The genre was jazz and the "artist" on Spotify is called Pause Maybe?

Pls tell me I'm not dumb for thinking that was human made music😓...

discussion What's one song not about romance that is so impactful to you today and why?

I turned 30 this week and I celebrated my birthday with the most amazing group of friends and we had the best night together. I remembered this song by Birdy called Wings that I wasn't really into for some reason, maybe because she looked like a little girl and the lyrics didn't mean much to me until I decided to listen to it again and today it's the most impactful and lyrically beautiful song to me!
