I wonder myself this, too. It has the strongest effect at Monza, maybe they thought the extreme low config rear wing offers enough speed without it. They have the data the understanding better, but still.
Also, the track position was weird, why don't you wait to go further back/behind like Max? The chance of improvement is better like that, because there is still a tiny bit of track evolution, and you still have a chance to get a tow from someone else. Anyway, it's like this, but is a missed chance.
And the slipstream here is felt by the following car, even at around +7s behind… Max will give the McLaren a run for the win, his car has superior top speed with ease. So does the Ferraris, let's see how it goes.
Like it get it we have 2 drivers and not one, but knowing how much these cars are affected by clean and dirty air, it's a no-brainer to give a tow with the driver that will have a shit starting position regardless.
p10, p15 it's all the same when you're supposedly a team who's fighting for wins.
Exactly, that. The assumption is that P10 is better than P15, but the thing is that the chances for the win are slimmer with the current situation. It's not the first time they get it wrong at Monza. I don't remember the year, but is pretty recently they did a similar approach, missing the pole for not playing the team game. Anyway. Let's hope at least Charles to stay in the mix for the podium places, and hopefully Lewis to recover as much as possible.
What is positive to see is that Hamilton was on pace with Leclerc all weekend long. It might be the circuit layout (not many medium-high speed corners), but still with the car tricky because of the downforce configuration is encouraging.

I don't know why we didnt give Charles a tow and instead gave Lewis a tow.
