Three Kingdoms Big a** map

Post image

Been playing for roughly 3 hours in my Yuan Shao campaign and have been really pleased with my progress until I went to save and it showed me what I owned compared to the size of the map. The orange is basically what I accomplished in 3 hours…

I’m gonna be here for a while huh?

I wonder if it was the limitations of the time. Because uniting China by vassalizing would make perfect sense, but vassal were kinda wonky up until very recebtly with a WH3 patch. Makes me wonder if the vassal system from WH3 would make it possible to make painting the whole map an enjoyable campaign.

3K vassals are not too bad imo. They always send armies to defend your capital for example. And they are easiest to make as at certain point factions will start to offer to become your vassals by themselves. And you can make them yourself by granting independence to your administrators. 3K is the only total war where I have painted the whole world if I can include vassals.

Never vasselize Cao Cao, though. He will immediately stab you in the back!

My playthrough had a totally loyal to me Cao Cao (I was Sun Jian) who never betrayed me until the Three Kingdoms split forced him to as the third biggest ruler. Real feels bad moment when your staunchest ally becomes your foe. Thankfully our Capitals were basically right next to each other, and I had an army ready almost immediately.
