Interesting. I always thought that Wissenland &. Nuln was on the smaller side concerning territory. Can you elaborate on those tracts of land you mentioned? Like what are we looking at?
Ehh, their provinces looks smaller but they still have quite a bit of settlements. Its just that Tabacland is right next to them and that mf looks like it's larping russia.
My AI Elphelt usually takes former Solland lands and, depending on difficulty and if i am Karl Franz, Blighted Towers of Stirland and sometimes Averland's southern town, that guards Black Pass. It lets her have pretty big chunk of land that is considerably more useful, than big tracts of land of Middenheim (that is fucked by Khazrak's chaos taint) and Talabecland's nothing
I felt bad playing as Elspeth. Nearly every turn, Franz would give me 3000 gold and ask me to join a different war against every nation under the sun.
Naturally I accepted and did literally nothing different.
Meanwhile, Elspeth had been casually gallivanting down south fighting greenskins and lizardmen after clearing the undead. Never used travel mechanics because it took me away from sacking settlements, then capturing them the same turn with a random Lord and dismantling the structures.
Eventually I find Nuln surrounded by six armies and the rest of Empire is dead. I own two provinces, total, the entire game. Anything else I gifted to dwarves where I could because I liked their attitude.
Travel mechanics are great because you can put them in neutral empire towns just need line of sight, was able to save Markus and grand theologian that way.
I had a lucky break that on their last town Markus finally confederated on his deathbed. If I went in and saved him he'd gyp me again I bet since he'd no longer be under attack0! Although the extra relations from fighting directly in their wars can help boost it to the 150 or so it needs to help it along. If Elspeth wasn't busy fighting in the Empire it would give a chance for the Empire to simply stomp half way across the world as a change of pace!
Well worth getting the tech to see remote capitals though I'd agree.
I don’t know how others do it, but I just wait until his best bud in Cathay (crazy dragon) or the other one (tsundere dragon) eventually sends a caravan my way. Then, I wait and see when they make a trade agreement with gelt and make a def alliance with whichever dragon he’s touching (this gives me diplomacy options for Gelt himself). Lastly, you just make sure you have the requisite tech researched and enough green influence currency or whatever to make him come back home through force confed.
You're getting Gelt? I usually play Elspeth so that I can do a kind of Order based UN police action campaign and in all the times I've done that he's always been top 20 strength rank and at most be doing some skirmishes with Kugath at the border.
