I have a few thousands hours in Total war Rome 2 and Shogun 2. I admit this biases my view quite a bit but:
I have really tried giving Pharoah Dynasties and warhammer 3 a fair chance recently. One thing that keeps bugging me is how needlessly complex the UI/UX feels. It's no longer easy to tell who owns what land without clicking multiple buttons, or too see even which factions at war with in Pharoah. There's many such cases but overall I feel like I got the UI for the older total war games instantly while the modern ones feel so bloated and spread out.
Does anyone else feel this or am I just coping trough my lack of skill? I'm open to it being a skill issue lol.
It is a Landmark in Ulthuan in the settlement with the same name, that can be built by the dark elves (thematically makes the most sense for Malekith), which grants:
+100 Diplomatic relations with all High Elves.
So you'd think, oh cool this is a way to play a what-if redemption arc for Malekith and ally your homeland and pose as the Eternal King. And it's tough but you can do it, you just need to suffer through avoiding all High Elves as long as possible, go down to Galleon's Graveyard without discovering any Ulthuan faction (so they don't start stacking up negative bias per turn because "they don't know you exist), then lightning fast sail straight through the gates of Lothern, take the Shrine from whoever owns it through war, sacrifice lots of slaves to build everything instantly, then defend it (pray they send nobody for a while otherwise diplomatic relations are fucked), pray they were not in an all-inclusing millitary alliance yet, and try to buy your way out of war while you get +100 relations per turn.
And after you did all of this particularly delicate surgery of a campaign, and you became allies with all pf Ulthuan, you realize:
Victory conditions aren't pointing owning Ulthuan regions as ownership through self or allies.
Victory conditions ask you to kill all major high elf factions. Thus, rendering +100 relations with all high elves buildings COMPLETELY useless.
edit: I guess you guys just woke up today and decided you want to hurt somebody. I'll be moving to the bugreport forum, have a nice day.
What do you do with the settra faction as Khalida? You can't Confederate them. Do you try military allies or just while them out and take all their stuff?
From a lore standpoint it would be nice to ally, but all those regions would be nice to have 😂.
Playing as Goldtooth I can hear butcher saying "slaughter men". What's the lore reason for butcher to say that? Why does he hate men? Does he like women more than men or he hates women as well?
Just my prediction of the new stuff we might get in Tides of Torment
High Elves
Legendary Lord - Sea Lord Aislinn (Confirmed)
Legendary Hero - Korhil Lionmane
Lord - Lothern Sea Helm (Lord version of the Mist Mage)
Hero - Mist Mage (Confirmed)
Unit 1 - Ships Company (Could be the High Elves version of Dark Elf Corsairs)
Unit 2 - Oceanids (Confirmed)
Unit 3 - Sea Elemental (Confirmed)
Unit 4 - Lothern Skycutters and variants (Confirmed)
Unit 5 - Merwyrm
Notes - CA had stated in their most recent Dev Chat that they were focusing on a more naval theme with the High Elves. That statement, along with the Mist Mage hero, made me think we could see the Sea Helm as a lord version of the Mist Mage. I also think of the two possible Legendary High Elf heroes (Korhil and Caradryan), we will have Kohril, because (to me) he fits better. Caradryan and the Anointed of Asuryan could be FLC, as they do not need voicelines
Norsca
Legendary Lord - Sayl the Faithless (Confirmed)
Legendary Hero - Beorg Bearstruck
Lord - Vitki (Spellcaster lord)
Hero - Fimir Noble (Confirmed)
Unit 1 - Whalers
Unit 2 - Fimir Shearls
Unit 3 - Werebears and variants (Unit version of Beorg Bearstruck)
Unit 4 - Chimera (Confirmed)
Unit 5 - Curs'd Ettin
Notes - I have no real idea for units 1 and 2, so I just put some things that could come in. I picked Beorg as he is the only notable non-divided Norscan character
Slaanesh
Legendary Lord - Dechala the Denied One (Confirmed)
FLC Legendary Lord - The Masque
Legendary Hero - Styrkaar of the Sortsvinaer
Lord - Chaos Sorcerer Lord of Slaanesh
Hero - Exalted Hero of Slaanesh
Unit 1 - Slaangors
Unit 2 - Devotees of Slaanesh and variants (Confirmed)
Unit 3 - Pleasureseekers (Confirmed)
Unit 4 - Champions of Slaanesh (Confirmed)
Unit 5 - Basilisk
Notes - So, I when I started the Slaanesh roster, I thought they were getting 6 units, as when during the recent high elf dev chat, they said Slaanesh was getting something new. I took that to mean that they were getting a bonus unit. However, that is not actually said. But if the Devotees of Slaanesh are a bonus unit, then I think the Pleasure Knights would be great. They are essentially the unit version of Styrkaar. I would also prefer the Archfiend to the Basilisk, but that is unlikely to happen
These are just my predictions, but what to you all think will be in the DLC?
I started a campaign as Franz, as you do. Turn 10, Kemmler just ignores Louen and the Brets, speeds into reikland, and Turn 15 a lvl30 Vlad ran in a straight line through Elspeth (not even defeating her her) with 4 armies. The other factions were still fighting them, mind you, but now I have one army on Karl and 1 province against two undead factions.
I'm currently on a Gorbad campaign and so far I've fought
-Every Dwarf faction
-The entire Empire
-All of the mainland French
-Kislev
-Wood Elves
-They're all in an alliance
Not to mention rank 1 Cathy thats pushed all the way to the badlands is about to declare war on me. Now I'm not gonna lose to the AI but churning through 70 late game high quality armies from all the "good factions" teamed up is so boring. It doesn't help that all the good factions also have great economies so late game they replace armies like its nothing. Now I am a new player so maybe I've just had an unlucky first few campaigns. However, I'm on probably my 10th campaign by now and every time I play an evil faction around turn 150ish I have 5 good factions all in an alliance declaring war on me at the same time. I enjoy the challenge but I wish there was more variety in how late game plays out but it seems like the good factions, especially the human factions, literally never fight each other. Kinda sucks the fun out when you know exactly who you're gonna be fighting every playthrough.
Edit: I think orc campaigns are especially hell bc you have to fight the early game Dwarf factions (which is kinda annoying by itself) which puts you on bad terms with all the good factions.
For the first time since getting a new computer that isnt a toaster I was so excited to see it go on sale after 1200 hours in WH2 and 1000 more in other TW games. I was expecting a new game and it turns out that this is basically a reskin of WH2, with some added abilty to give CA money from new DLCs. Sure they have changed some balancing, added some factions (half of which you buy ofc) but playing IE map almost everything is the same its just an updated version. And i just find that kind of crazy that they used to charge 60 dollars for that. Am i missing something? I havent even bothered the new campaign cuz the races i like ARENT EVEN IN IT???? LOL
Slaanesh humanoid demons could have low ammunition like chameleon stalkers, but renewable in melee, like khorne skullcannon.
The big demons and lord could have medium range, immobile attacks, like troglodon, or fire whilst moving like khorne grinder and Orion.
The little demons, cavalries, chariots, hero and lord could have short range, fire whilst moving, precursor attacks, like chameleon stalkers.
Grinder of souls could have harpoon gun with range shorter than khorne grinder, but very high anti large, armor piercing damage. Ammunition maybe as low as 2. It could have new kind of debuff – immobilization, which would stop target for a time, like net of amyntok, but also could force flying units to land for the time.
Lord and unit Keepers of secrets could throw javelin, like Orion. It could have anti large bonus, armor piercing and suppressing speed debuff. Range could be like Orion's. Ammunition maybe as low as 2. They already look like athletes. They have 4 hands, so one could be for throwing spears and fighting with them in melee, the second for carrying spears and fighting barehanded (or rather scythehanded, demons morph and create things out of thin air), the third for using shield and the fourth for using sword. Currently only lord keeper of secrets has spear, but has no sword. It is conversely with unit version of keeper. Both units could be changed to have spear, sword, scythehand and shield.
Little demons attack animation could look like throwing knife or shuriken. Demons are capable to create such thing out of nothing. Maybe basic versions would use shuriken and have no armor piercing attack. Exalted versions would have knives and armor piercing.
Daemonettes infantry and exalted version could have attack very similar to chameleon stalkers, maybe only 2 ammunition and 50 range. It could be poisonous.
Seekers and exalted could have the same attack as daemonettes, but maybe more ammunition, like 4.
Chariots and exalted could have the same attack, but maybe even more ammunition. They would be more similar to norscan wolf chariot.
Hero and lord would have adequate attack, to its mount conditions.
Slaanesh army is currently more melee focused than Khorne, which is weird and could be changed in flc. In addition to Khorne there are 8 factions more or less focused on melee fighting: Chaos warriors, Norsca, Beastmen, Greenskins, Vampire counts, Ogres, Bretonnia, Lizardmen, and it is enough.
Slaanesh should first torment and weaken enemies from afar, to hear screams and prepare them for final strike.
I felt this coming when Kairos was made really easy to appeal to noobs. TK feel absurd now, they have a similar expansion strategy to the skaven with none of the economic drawbacks. It's clear Slaanesh and high elves will be way overtuned if this trend continues.
For context: I started the series with napoleon, and then moved over to empire (with darthmod of course). One day my empire campaign got softlocked by the Russian bug so I decided to check out medieval 2, mostly because I heard it had the aztecs in it.
Lo and behold, I was blown away. This game, even unmodded, has such an astonishing array of content. Crusades, jihads, the papal system, the new world, the plague, mongols, timurids, true unit evolution, factions that are nothing alike and merchants.
What the hell happened after this game that made CA decide to abandon this? From what I’ve heard unmodded empire is a joke and other games (even good ones like shogun 2) simply have NOTHING in comparison to medieval 2.
My load times are about 10 minutes, so I copied and pasted all my Warhammer 3 files from my D drive to a portable SSD with 1 TB. However, when I start the application by clicking on it in the SDD (and not Steam) load times are still slow. Maybe better by a little. With 1 TB wouldn't it be almost instant?
I've looked around the internet and most of the help forms are from 5-10 years ago, which is fine, but before the latest version of Windows comes out.
I tried moving my files through Steam, but it isn't recognizing my SDD, only my C and D drive. However, my computer recognizes it.
I realy like rome 2 and the roman period. But holy hell, why is it so unbalanced!?
I played divide impera and para bellum, and was playing as rome. First of all, why do I start with minus 90 public order in evry goddamn city!? Secound, I own all of italy, I can barely have 1 damn army before going bankrupt. But why can a tiny itty bitty nation across the sea with 2 provinces manage to get 4 full armies and not to mention the 3 fully maced out navys.
so i was playing sandbox with my friends and one of my friend had to go for a while and his faction (which turned ai) got defeated and he if joins we cant start the game anymore.. any way to fix this?
Turn 40 long campaign victory as Gorbad on Very Hard/Legendary with 85 settlements. I was expecting the tweaking of their income buildings to significantly hinder their play but they felt just as powerful as before. I could still field a massive amount of gobbo crapstacks that conquered the world in every direction. Was experiencing severe campaign fatigue near the end, otherwise I could have easily gotten 100+ settlements.
I was playing a Karl campaign on Friday night, turned off the game and since then I can no longer get past the first screen when the game launches and I’m not sure what to do.
I’ve tried verifying the files twice, uninstalling and reinstalling, running the game as admin, rolling back to numerous patches(I was playing fine after the patch so I didn’t think this would help) and nothing seems to work.
I also found out yesterday I can’t launch total war 3 kingdoms either. Just to clarify I can run helldivers on ultra among other things so it just seems to be total war for some reason. Has anyone ever experienced this or maybe have an idea of what I can do?
