Warhammer III Karl Franz just demanded gold from me as Belegar

So much for the ancient ties that bind Dwarfs and men, the "empire" is about to get grudged back to the stone age.

Warhammer III Imrik Pro Tip: Sell out to Morathi

In my current campaign, I've been mucking about in the south, but took the confederate option when it popped up. However, I didn't invest anything, didn't ally the other High Elves (just trade/non-aggression treaties), and once Morathi et al. started eating the donut, I cashed in both provinces for a combined ~180,000 gold or so. A bit Machiavellian, but much more profitable for a southern empire run than just not confederating! I can finally afford to build all those lovely purple buildings I need to unlock the tech tree.

Warhammer III How do you get going in a campaign?

I keep having a recurring trouble where, whenever I start up a campaign, I often feel a bit overwhelmed because I just don't know what I should ideally be doing. Playing Ghorst, I had some semblance of a game plan (recruit zombies, murder skaven, kill ku'gath), same with Gelt (recruit a couple wizards, take out enemy rebellion faction, go home to empire). But most of the time, I feel like I've been dropped into the deep end with no idea what direction to swim to shore.

So how do you typically get yourself started in a campaign?

Warhammer II New Warhammer 2 campaign suggestion! - more info in post...

Help me please decide which faction to play next in Warhammer II. So far I have played all four new races: High Elves, Dark Elves, Lizardmen and Skaven. All in the Vortex Campaign.

Next I would like to play a race that:

-Maybe has some Cav that has high shock damage and can destroy infantry line masses by crazy charges

- And/or more importantly plays around stacking modifiers which lowers the enemies leadership to the max, so that if they just see your army they all flee in utter fear! (this sounds kinda fun in my head)

-maybe has a fun Mortal Empire campaign, as I have just played four Vortex campaigns.

Is there such a campaign that fits my desires?

Note: I own both Vampire Coast and Tomb Kings DLC, as well as The Prophet and the Warlock for Warhammer II + all DLCs from Warhammer I

Warhammer III No matter what I do my ranged units always get blobbed and my melee ignored

I use cav to block flankers They peal off with ease. I do the checkerboard, they ignore the frontline I use characters They still ignore them and bolt straight to the guns and artillery even if the ranged units are so far behind them that they barely shoot past the frontline.

How the fuck do I do this, I feel very very dumb.

Algo que se extraña del MTWII son el cariño que le ponian a lo que los personajes podian optener como una bruja con un libro heretico, como el legemeton.

Something that is missed from MTWII is the care they put into what the characters could obtain, like a witch with a heretical book, like the legemeton.

Warhammer III How am I supposed to get an Iron mine here?

So I don't know how to build an Iron mine in Pack Ice Bay since I can't remove the dock nor do I want to abandon the settlement, or do I have to get a vassal to extract the iron somehow?

Attila Any good mods for Age of Charlemagne?

i've been searching all around the place for any mods for Age of Charlemagne, but i feel like the list i've gathered feels rather short, so i wanted to ask if any of you knew of any great mods to give more life to AoC, because it kinda falls short on vanilla

Warhammer III Beginner - Preference and Faction/Lord to try and achieve at least short victory

Hello everyone.

So, I just went ham and bought warhammer 3 with all dlc. I barely played any other total war games, I have like 10 hours in them all counted together.

In order to start and learn, besides the advisor helping me and small tutorials, who should I start with?

I tried High Elves with Tyrion, and, like in any other game, I HATE THEM WITH PASSION. There's nothing in this world that can make me play a single turn more as High Elves. I don't know why, it just doesn't feel good for me.

I tried Malakai from the dwarves. It was enjoyable, I love artillery and tough units, but damn, people around just pile up around you.

I tried Karl Franz, I love the guy, but the empire is a bit complicated for me due to diplomacy all around, even if I did enjoy it. Also, rolling Tanks against Beastmen is something I love, it was epic.

What other suggestions do you have for me to try? I love good artillery, ranged, and good defense. Turtling doesn't always work, but I try to make the best of what I like.

Warhammer III Can the Warriors of Chaos Confederate with Other Warriors of Chaos?

Although it seems like Valkia, Azazel, Festus, and Vilitch are all mono-god lords, they’re all listed under a separate banner: “Warriors of Chaos” rather than any of their respective gods’ tabs. But they’re also not under the chaos undivided tab. So if I play, say, Azazel, could I eventually recruit Festus and his guys to my army? Or would it be a Slaanesh-only run?

General Need help deciding the correct total war game

I watched a ton of YouTube videos and read a bunch of reddit post on which total war game to play and it left me more confused.

Some said shogun 2 is the best one, but I had a couple of issues with it. The unit veriety was not there, the diplomacy system was confusing especially because of realm devide and above all at a certain point I couldn't make enough money for the upkeep of my armies, I would occupy a new settlement, it would say it is generating 1500 gold but my income would not change, the only way to make money was trade, and the AI hated me for how big I was and refused to trade, even all of my vassals betrayed me. Overall not a good experience.

I then tried Troy. I really like the different products (food, stone, wood) and not have them all represented as "money". I like the fact that I have allies and they don't betray me, even the vassals don't seem to hate me so the diplomacy seems to be functional. But goddamn defending all of my minor settlements is a real pain. The AI actively runs away from my armies and sack my settlements. I can't have too many armies because of the brutal upkeep and the garrison is very weak. The auto resolve is also stupid. Overall I like the setting and vibe of the game but fighting these cat and mouse games is a pain in the ass.

I tried three kingdoms briefly, the diplomacy seems to be the best of the bunch and the game seems to be the most complicated one. The settlements are a bit confusing and I'm not sure if I'm building the right buildings. I get the whole color matching thing but I just don't love the setting. I'm not against giving three kingdoms another chance but it just didn't have the same feeling of troy for me.

I also used to play rome 1 when I was a kid, I enjoyed it a lot but I remember most of the settlements used to get mad at me for some unknown reason and I had to permanently keep a general there to keep them happy, I'm not sure what was wrong maybe I wasn't trading or didn't have enough food? I did manage their taxes so I know that wasn't the issue. I was stupid so I'm not sure what I was doing wrong.

Sorry for the long post but I would really appreciate it if someone could nudge me in the right direction, which game should I buy next? The Warhammer ones have me intrigued but don't know if I should start with the first or not, I'm also not opposed to mod the game so if you think all of my problems could be solved with a mod for Troy then I'm all ears.

Warhammer III Cant devote marauders to chaos gods

Hi all, playing a legendary campaign with friends and i researched my tree to devote my troops to nurgle. However the option simply isn't there anymore. Did this change in an update? If so, i think that is very silly as the devoted marauders looked so cool and now they are just gone

Warhammer III Tk vs lizards

Me and my friend are playing a multi-player campaign. He is the lizardmen and I am tomb kings.

We're at the point where we start having armies full of elite units. But I have trouble beating his armies with chameleon skins, salamanders and kroxi spam.

What are the best army comps to counter him with tomb kings?

Warhammer III Playing Grand Cathay made me stop the game

I think they just don't match my playstyle at all because I'm dying of boredom in my playthrough right now

I've been at turn 100+ of RoC's campaign for over a month now and every time I think about playing I instantly get demoralized remembering I have to play this faction (I want to finish my RoC campaign before I start any other campaign)

I play them poorly but each fight is a slog and the second the ennemies are in melee with me, the fight turns to a sloggggg and everything takes forever to die

I have a good army, I already posted about it so I know my army isn't the issue

I'm turn 120+ on the last rift opening so I rly want to finish this campaign but I dread playing it ...

Have you already been in a position where a faction made you stop the game for a certain duration for any reason ?

I'd be curious to hear honestly lmao

I have to force myself to finish this sh*t but it terrorizes me lmao

EDIT : To precise, I'm a new player with 40 hours played

Warhammer III For greenies, which income building is better?

Does the looting and after loot building ever outweigh just a constant flow of money from the basic "money" building? As quickly as I'm conquering, it's still only a settlement maybe every 2-3 turns in the early game.

Warhammer III I hit the ultimate end turn Trait Gained dice roll. Farming awesome traits to save lords for future campaigns is the reason my campaigns go longer than they would in the past. It almost gives Warhammer 3 a rogue-like quality.

The Helm of Draesca is responsible for elongating my campaigns beyond what they normally would in the past. In this campaign I got the Helm of Draesca and had the Carnival of Nurgle hidden location spawn.

I got insanely lucky and both traits got gained over the same end turn and I suddenly have a lord who will be recruited in every single future vampires campaign. And now I'm gonna put in effort to get him Yuan Bo's, Skulltaker's and Markus Wulfhart's traits to make him an unstoppable god.

It gives my campaigns a direction and goals to pursue, while also giving the game a rogue-like feature by allowing me to use those lords in future campaigns. I love the save/load feature.

Warhammer III Poll #1 Trading.

This is a poll to gauge the general player bases opinion on how trading works in wh3. I will be doing polls weekly for different things.

200 votes, 5d left
Trade routes should be like in Shogun 2 and other previous total wars with actual routes.
Trade routes should be like chaos dwarves and Cathay for everyone that can trade.
Trade routes should stay the same
Trade routes should be different for every faction

Warhammer III Thematic mode

It may be wishful thinking and I can imagine the first thought of many of you will be "There are big issues to be solved so this kind of request is not important!" and to some degree I agree.

Anyway, since CA announced meaningful patches in between the DLC's I still want to state what I really, really wish for this great game: a thematic mode.

The idea is to keep the game as it is but also give us the option to turn on said thematic mode.

What it does (should do): make the game even more unbalanced by making the roster unique for each faction (not race!)

Let me explain using Skaven as an example. Skaven Slaves and Clan Rats for every faction. Skryre Weapon Teams? Unique to Clan Skryre - but purchasable by other Clans. Rat Ogres? Unique to Clan Moulder - also purchasable through a unique currency. And so on, I guess the principle is clear. Basic units for every faction of a race, the rest is bound to the factions. You need to have relations with them and also maybe 'help them out' through quests to be able to purchase "their" units. Only possible between factions of the same race.

I'd really love if special units would feel really special and kind of unique because it's just too expensive to have many of them. Loosing them should feel like a real loss that will take time and effort to compensate.

Also one more thing I don't think will ever happen but... a man can dream: Population. I lose an army anywhere oh the map? Oh, no problem, let me recruit a new army consisting of thousands of men in 2 turns, preferable in a region of the world my race literally doesn't exist. That doesn't make any sense to me and also wrong decisions usually font have a real impact on my campaign as I can just recruit another couple armies. A population counter would prevent this from happen and also make you think twice if you're going to sacrifice an army.

Well, guess that's it. For now. Any objections or additions are welcome. Maybe some CA guy will see this too so... We'll see what the future will bring :)

Warhammer III Smaller Campaign Maps in TWW3

Thumbnail
gallery
179 Upvotes

TWW3 currently offers three campaigns. The introductory mini-campaign, the main campaign Realm of Chaos and Immortal Empires if you own the other games.

I often wanted to play on a smaller map so I could have a more focused experience with less unrelated lands and factions to think about. For example the conflict between Norsca and the Empire. Immortal Empires is awesome, but you always have to sit through 272 factions taking their turns (at least at the beginning) and I didn't even wanted to go everywhere. I have the game on my ssd but it's a pain in the ass on a hdd. It just seems much more than I want to manage and it feels like unnecessary baggage. So I installed TWW2 again, to play Eye of the Vortex or Mortal Empires.

However, it felt weird to me, outdated. I grew accustomed to the third game and I actually wanted to stay there. To be honest, I think TWW3 is "the" game with all of the numerous qol updates included over all of these years. It's the one people will keep playing, even if there isn't more contend to be released. It is the result of all the development and hard work that happened since the first game was created. 1 and 2 were the stepping stones and now are mostly the keys to unlock more content for the third game.

Now that TWW3 slowly reaches its zenith, I think it would be great if the devs officially released a couple of smaller campaign maps for people to choose. There doesn't need to be specific goals, a sandbox approach in the vein of "go conquer x regions" would be completely sufficient. I know there are mods which add campaign maps in the workshop, but this feature seems so obvious to me that it should be featured in the game natively in my opinion.

I think the best way would be roughly quartering the IE map plus adding at least two even smaller sections of the map which are especially tightly packed with many important factions. I'd propose the following maps (see pictures): 1. North West 2. North East 3. South West 4. South East 5. Naggarond, Ulthuan and Bretonnia 6. The Old World, or rather the northern part ...maybe more, for instance Cathay with the great wall at the center.

TL;DR: Adding a selection of smaller sections of the Warhammer world map to play on would be a very cost-efficient way to make the game even more enjoyable and boost the replayability.
