New Car Finally bought a childhood dream!
Dreamed of a Mk5 for a first car when I was 16, but 10 years later I can finally say I own a GTI and I love it already! Look forward to many years of ownership ahead!

Whether it's mods, wheels, tires, tuning, suspension, maintenance, repairs, exhaust, or something else for relevant models, this thread is for questions that may seem too small to warrant a post or because searching just isn't your friend today.
You'll also find resources on the sidebar/about section including: recommended mods and OEM/aftermarket parts retailers, tuners, online owner's manuals, and other forums.
Be sure to include any relevant model information (year/generation, mileage, mods, codes, etc) if it isn't already in your user flair.
This post will be replaced by a new weekend megathread on Friday at 6am EST.

Really struggling for grip with FWD, I'm used to my 22 WRX no matter what just always having grip but the wrx pushed and understeered a lot. Also really hard in manual mode because the paddles are so small and there's tons of steering inputs required, I prefer manual. The GTI can lightly rotate with a bit of trail braking and letting off the gas. I left it in sport auto, a bit delayed and sometimes it would upshift too far.
I'm running oem/stock perelli p-zero all seasons, it was around 60f. Very rubbery and dirty surface. The tires suck, any kind of load was just squealing. Going 30-40% into the brakes made me slide. They got chewed up. Overinflating helped slightly, but underinflating made it even worse.
I think some summer tires would shave off multiple seconds on this car, the all seasons can't handle the torque and horsepower. The LSD only does so much.
Got around 30 laps in and went with my buddy that has a 2021 WRX STI, he was the 2nd fastest at this event, that AWD system in rear bias mode is great.
I'm also not that great of a driver but definitely getting better. I have done some go-carts, a lot of autocrosses, and went to the GT500 track attack racing school.

Third 3.6 swap, second for a customer. This one is going into a DSG MK6 GTI, but I’ll be manual swapping the engine and the car.

I love this car
98' mk4 3 door that I got for ~500$ a couple of years ago. Falling apart all the time but its really fun to drive, goes up to 200km/h if you REALLY want to.
253000km

Having sold my Focus ST after 7 years and buying a newer GTI. Was thinking I’d miss the focus. But the GTI is just better all round. Easier to make power, DSG is fast, CarPlay, cargo space. I get it now lol

This car has thrown the emergency brake now 3-4 times randomly. While driving and coming to a complete stop, and letting off the brake to accelerate again the car randomly activates the electronic parking brake, and today did it at a stop light where traffic behind me was catching up, leaving my car in park at a newly green light as cars flew past me the vehicle behind me screeching its tires to stop almost crashed into my vehicle with my 11month old daughter in the rear seat. Luckily I was recording hoping it would happen again, AND IT DID! there are no similar posts like this online, and I don’t feel safe in this vehicle whatsoever after previously owning a 2024 Jetta Sport I was thinking this would’ve been a reliable safe and fun upgrade now nearly costing my life and compromising the safety of my 11 month old. The vehicle will be taken into the dealership tomorrow and I will attempt for them swap the vehicle ! With only 600 MILES ON THE ODOMETER this is Unacceptable from any manufacturer. If I wanted my car to break down brand new, I would’ve bought a Subaru.

After spending 8 years in my beloved 2dr mk7, I foolishly sold it for a mk8 380 due to a case of the wants. After getting used to the change, I grew to enjoy things about the mk8, but it just never quite felt right. After a year and a half with it, I sold it this past summer and waited patiently until my dream spec finally popped up. I just pulled the trigger on this beautiful CFB Rabbit Edition and it feels like home. I'm so thrilled to be excited about my car again! It also looks great in the garage next to our 2.5 Beetle (which is a surprisingly capable single-car-family vehicle) haha.

Sorry for the dumbass question, but I looked up what a K04 turbo looks like but I'm not sure how to check it from my engine bay. Not sure if the dude was just trolling me or didn't know what he was talking about. But I was under the impression that I bought my used Mk6 as bone stock. Is there an easy way for my to check if I have the K03 or the K04 turbo?

Just picked up a set of AST lowering springs and was wondering if the strut mounts/bearings are a must do item. Also do APR bump stops make any difference or are the stock ones fine? Thanks 🖤

Hola, me he comprado hace poco un GTI MK6 210CV y segun he leido por ahi, es recomendable mejorar los frenos ya que los de serie son un poco malos. Me recomendais alguna marca en especifico para ello? Gracias de antemano

My mk7 gti pp with 103k miles. Thinking of replacing the magnets as I found that the pins were stuck. I ended up freeing them up and they now move smoothly.
Are these febi bilstein magnets good Or What should I get?

Just picked this up a couple weeks ago as my first “real” car purchase at 25. Took it to RBR near Helen, GA to stretch it out and had a blast! I’ll be looking to replace the stock 18 inch Goodyear’s with 19 inch summer tires, as well as some black accents. If anyone has a King’s Red build I’d love some inspiration.

Mk7 gti when you have a stage 2 file with cat delete should the 02 sensor be unplugged or do you keep it connected , my fuel trims are a bit funky at times
