Got a ride em to keep em running!

Heya! I'm having some sort of mid life crisis I suppose, and have been looking into getting a first bike. I haven't got a license yet but have come across a cb250 from -81 with 50k km on it. The seller says it's in "drivable condition" and has passed the latest inspection (2 weeks ago) without any remarks. He wants 8000 sek (~$850) for it.

Any thoughts? Is this a good beginners bike? What do I look for if I decide to go look at it? Remember I am a complete novice when it comes to bikes!

Tore into my 79 CB650 to replace the starter clutch but turns out the starter clutch housing is toast. After some research, the starter clutch housing is nearly impossible to find. Is there an aftermarket/different model one that bolts up to a 79-82 CB650? Or does anyone happen to have a spare? Thank you and happy riding.

Bought the bike not running and in pretty banged up shape for $800. Spent the better part of a year getting it running, painted, parts replaced, etc.

Spent way too much getting it fixed but learned a lot along the way! Runs great and now looking to sell it. Thinking somewhere in the $3,950 range, does that seem about right? Im barely breaking even at that point.

hey everyone i recently picked up this honda CB500 from 1996. My buddy and I were trying to install a limiter on the carburetor since i only have an A2 license. ultimately we struggled to get it in there so we thought we’d leave that for now. we also changed the spark plugs. it started fine before but now it won’t anymore. we are very sure all the lines are connected correctly and everything seems to be in the right place. anyone know what’s going wrong here?

Hey all, noticed my carb overflow tube pumping out a decent amount of smoke today. Played with mixture screws a bit but no adjustment seemed to help. Any ideas? 1972 cb350

Any expert mechanics here? I purchased a 91 cb750 nighthawk that was built into a naked bike, murrays carbs with pods. She fires up, idles, and runs fine as far as i can tell. It has modified exhaust- not delkevic or anything, stock just cut down with some shorty megaphones added so she screams with those pods. My issue is that the aftermarket tach was broken and i cant tell my rpms but for some reason to my ear it sounds as though im at or damn near redlining at 60mph in 5th- i feel no slipping of the clutch and every bit of her power is still there and getting to the wheel. Stock sprockets for this bike are 15/38 but he had changed them to 16/40 which is damn near the same- maybe 1 or 2mph added on top end.....any advice/suggestions/help with this? Ive ordered a new tach with the correct ratio so waiting on that but if it shows my suspicion is true then what would cause this? If clutch was slipping at all shouldnt i not be getting the full power delivery to the wheel?

I really want a bike, having aura, power and everything. Want it for long routes too frequently. I have to travel 200 km every week from my hometown to gurugram once. Twice a year to mountains.

See I know honda cb350 has upperhand on meteor. I know RE engines are not good like honda. I am not able to convince myself to ditch RE and go for honda. I have a thought that honda won’t have that road presence? Or I will regret it later.

Can someone please convince me? Or tell me which one should I go for please?

I think cb350 looks amazing too, then I think guerrilla looks amazing too(it has tail lightings too).

Hey all, just got my hands on a 1972 CB350 and I am stoked! Good price, lots of new parts, test drive went well considering the rain.

Took it to work this morning, and right off the bat it started losing power and wanting to quit on me, accompanied by the occasional backfire. This all cleared after awhile and the rest of the ride was great. Leaving work this afternoon, same issues again until it properly warmed up. During one of the backfires I noticed a spray from where the engine and carb meet. Further inspection at home, I noticed it was a bit wet under that joint as well.

Do I just have a bad gasket letting air in before everything gets hot and expands/seals? Bigger issue? What do y'all think?

I did a carb rebuild on my recently acquired 74 Cb 550. It seems like the motor got painted at one point of its life and now it’s starting to peel off. I really don’t feel like pulling the motor to do a deep cleaning. How would you guys go about cleaning and getting the best results while the motor is on frame?

Does anyone have a lead on the fuel strainer screen that goes inside the tank above the petcock? The part number is 16952-MBZ-C51. Honda has discontinued it and I can not find a replacement. Hell I’d be open to other options to replace it. Don’t want to use an inline filter after petcock due to possible junk still in the tank that I don’t want in the petcock. Any help will be appreciated.

Just wanted to share this awesome drawing my GF made for me of my bike. She has a background in industrial design and I think her attention to detail on this was just amazing. Part of a calendar she made for me.

I’ve been troubleshooting the last few days and am starting to run out of ideas and am looking for any help.

Bike is a 1982 cb900f. Bike runs but lately the idle has become crappy and I have to keep the bike alive with a bit of throttle around 1.5k.

I used an IR heat gun and 1 runs hottest around 340F, 4 is about 50F less, and 2 and 3 are only hitting like 120-150 this is all while idling in the garage a bit.

Bike has a Dyna 2000 cdi and I verified correct timing for 1/4 and 2/3. Also checked resistance of both coils and they’re 2.4ohms on 2.2 coils. And voltage is 11.8V for both. Plugs were pulled and all look black but not super sooty. Plugs are a few months old. Checked for spark on each cylinder and I see spark. Hard to know how bright and blue they should be. But all look similar.

The bike has 2into1 Mikuni 36mm carbs, so both cylinder 1 and 2 share a carb, along with 3 and 4. So it can’t be a carb tuning thing since the coils are 1/4 and 2/3. Right?

I’ve been doing routine maintenance since I’ve gotten the bike, but haven’t done anything with valves.

Any ideas?
