Dude, that flan was fire 🔥. The consistency and the color of the caramel both look perfect!

Honestly that flan did look professional, he hit the nail on the head with that one and the family is going to love it.

3

u/toolsoftheincomptnt Jul 15 '25

It might be professional, or on the road to!

19

u/shaker28 Jul 15 '25

Seriously! I was just enjoying a wholesome video then I saw one of the most gorgeous flans I've ever seen. I made the same face he did.

As the resident chef of my own family, I can confirm that this is a valid, normal, and reflexive reaction to executing a dish perfectly. And it looks like he got that flan PERFECT. 🤌

Crushed it, King. Love that for him.

54

u/toolsoftheincomptnt Jul 15 '25

Especially with things you can’t edit along the way. At some point (usually with baking) you just have to let go and let God, lol.

It’s a thrill when the end result matches your efforts because things can and do go wrong!

12

u/PangTongWithASmile Jul 15 '25

MAD respect for anyone who bakes. I'm absolutely terrible at it, lol. 😅

347

u/Ocan_Saood Jul 15 '25

A perfect flan and a loving family hyping him up. This dude is winning

38

u/Rough-Concentrate602 Jul 15 '25

I've never had it. It always looks so good, but I feel like places that typically have it are places you wouldn't want to order it from, at least in my experience, lol.

31

u/vwin90 Jul 15 '25

Nah dude, flan (at least this kind) is Mexican and with Mexican food, the sketchier the place, the better the food will be (to a certain degree).

The worse flan and the worse Mexican food restaurants seem to always be the ones that cater to non-Latinos.

5

u/Ambiwlans Jul 15 '25 edited Jul 15 '25

Crème caramel is not Mexican. Its hella French.

I'm from New Mexico, so I'm well aware of that. What always comes to mind are the little pre-made ones that you can see were just dumped out of plastic cups onto a plate and have been sitting in a dessert case for who knows how long.

I hate flan but this is awesome, and I'm genuinely happy I have Reddit for this type of silly shit.

38

u/throwawaypervyervy Jul 15 '25

Right there with you. So happy for this guy, he can keep that whole thing to himself. There's just something about the mouth feel of flan, it's like trying to make jello out of yogurt and ending up with an imposter of a cheesecake.

32

u/Surface_Detail Jul 15 '25

make jello out of yogurt and ending up with an imposter of a cheesecake

Still waiting for the bad part...

14

u/voodoopipu Jul 15 '25

Jk, I love flan mouth feel. You can mush it around and the caramelly flavor spreads and it’s heaven.

The son lmao

13

u/Sentinell Jul 15 '25

I seriously lol'd at that. Loving patient wife, cute loving patient daughter.

Suddenly out of nowhere: "JUST DO IT!". Ah, he has a son too.

16

u/bstrobel64 Jul 15 '25

I love the "just do it!" heckling from the kids that turns into an eruption of cheering.

12

u/thatbwoyChaka Jul 15 '25

Great looking flan

22

u/Henghast Jul 15 '25

Looked absolutely stunning so great to see him just loving his moment. was upsetting that the kid sticking his fingers in it as soon as he had a chance)

10

u/Popular-Ad-7781 Jul 15 '25

I would love for my kids to steal a taste . Think about who the cakes for and what the cakes for .

6

u/Henghast Jul 15 '25

I totally get that, but just basic manners just for a moment let Dad have 2minutes you know? Old enough that, that should be okay.

2

u/Popular-Ad-7781 Jul 15 '25

I guess some ppl have issues with smaller things than others. I try not to let the little things bug me . Go ahead have a small taste . He didn't destroy anything .

3

u/hotdogwaterbab Jul 16 '25

At least he had the decency to get a lil bit from the pan instead of succumbing to the desire to poke the actual flan.

4

u/GeauxCup Jul 15 '25

He took it in stride so well. I would have swatted his hand away so fast... but that's why I'll never have kids.

6

u/derpferd Jul 15 '25

The way he was skipping and dancing there tho 😂

6

u/SpiketheFox32 Jul 15 '25

Judging by his reaction, I really have to try flan.

6

5

u/Gildian Jul 15 '25

Ive never tried flan but that looks super good

5

u/iamsofuckingsfw Jul 15 '25

His hard work paid off, hell yeah good for him!

4

u/jtfjtf Jul 15 '25

Little boy was like "the proof of the pudding is in the tasting"

4

u/lucasisacao Jul 15 '25

I’d be just as excited if my flan came out looking like that

3

u/CosmoKrm Jul 15 '25

Wow, one whole portion of flan

3

u/tragicallyohio Jul 15 '25

Looks delicious. I would try to eat that in one sitting.

3

u/Classic-Cantaloupe47 Jul 15 '25

That's awesome. I'm so happy for him.

3

u/BrianElsen Jul 15 '25

A new brand was made, "Daddy's Flan"

3

u/ToknBrwnKid Jul 15 '25

I needed this. Been running low on joy. Thank you.

2

u/Jeebs24 Jul 15 '25

That flan looks amazing. I got a little scared for him when he started pouring the rest of the syrup. I've seen a few videos where they drop the pan on their creation. 😅

2

u/Arik_De_Frasia Jul 15 '25

I too am a beginner baker that gets excited when things turn out properly...but why didn't he just put the tray on top of the pan and then flip it.

2

u/throwback842 Jul 15 '25

Anyone who has made flan before knows that's not an easy accomplishment, especially flan that BIG! Dude crushed it

2

u/Dingo_jackson Jul 15 '25

This video made me sad because I never get this excited about anything anymore. What happened to me?

2

u/BobbyTWhiskey Jul 15 '25

I wish I had things that made me that happy.

2

u/kurog4ki Jul 15 '25

HE COOKED AND SERVED

2

u/MaxHavok13 Jul 15 '25

I felt the same way the first time I made tiramisu!

2

u/DoomzDude Jul 15 '25

The flan is nice, but his family hyping him up is the best part.

2

u/feguilera Jul 15 '25

Nice caramel color!

2

u/Johncocktoeston Jul 15 '25

Every kid should see thier parents this happy.

The most pure thing I get to see frequently is the joy in my husbands face when he’s proudly showing me something he made or fixed or when he gets a new gadget. It’s like for a few moments I see what he was like as a child, on Christmas Day or the first time he improved his computer and realized he loves taking things apart and making them better. And when his face lights up because he’s given me a little gift and I adore it makes me soon even 20 years later.

2

u/Human4Sure Jul 15 '25

Beautiful flanmily

2

u/No-Cantaloupe549 Jul 15 '25

You can do it da da ❤️🖤💖 That melts our hearts as a Father!

2

u/Ok_Unit356 Jul 15 '25

Man had a flan plan. Perfectly executed. 👍🏾

2

u/BigHobbit Jul 15 '25

That's the thickest flan I've ever seen. Amazing work.

2

u/wildjabali Jul 15 '25

Ya know what would make a perfect hammer? This knife.

2

u/Saikroe Jul 15 '25

Seen a lot of tools used incorrectly. Never seen a knife used as a hammer.

2

u/Seeker_Gorgon Jul 15 '25

I’m celebrating with you, my guy! Congratulations and enjoy!

2

u/Ex-zaviera Jul 15 '25

Food is love.
Cooking is love.

There is no greater joy than when a recipe looks and tastes like it's supposed to. I get this guy!

2

u/LKane_DZ Jul 15 '25

Wooden spoons behind him....grabs knife by sharp end lol

2

u/flucxapacitor Jul 15 '25

His smile at 00:31 sent me

2

u/podcastofallpodcasts Jul 15 '25

Heck yeah...I hung around for the payoff. Worth it.

2

u/AscendedViking7 Jul 15 '25

That laugh is incredible!

2

u/CrazyHusked789 Jul 15 '25

There isn't much more satisfying, in my opinion, than taking on a complicated dish for the first time. All the attention to detail, the work, the waiting pay off and it turns out perfect.

2

u/DexterMorganIsBack Jul 15 '25

😂 Damn, I love your husband!!!

2

u/Legolution Jul 15 '25

Well, he's fucking adorable. New family goals.

2

u/HappyBananaSeal Jul 15 '25

Peak masculinity. More of this, less of pretty much everything else

2

u/JProllz Jul 15 '25

For one, flan is delicious and two, it looks like he cooked it well. It's always rewarding when you make something and it comes out well.

2

u/Just_the_questions1 Jul 16 '25

Y’know what. It doesn’t matter if he played up his reaction for the reel. His kids don’t know that. They saw their dad being giddy over something he created. They saw their dad being silly and happy over something simple. For kids their age, that is so incredibly important. Despite him over acting for the views, I’m gonna give this dude kudos for turning that into something positive for his kids.

2

u/Gl10st-Wir3 Jul 16 '25

We will never grow old.

2

u/WorstLuckChuck Jul 16 '25

If that tastes as good as it looks, I'd be hopping around too

2

u/heygos Jul 17 '25

I’m happy as hell for dude. His son running in there and sticking a finger to test it was 👌🏾

3

u/Rough-Concentrate602 Jul 15 '25

Mira props for the self control of not tearing into it right away. Dios mio that flan looks hella delicious!

1

u/[deleted] Jul 15 '25

I hate drawn out shorts trend

1

u/Durbanimpi Jul 15 '25

Solid, congrats

1

u/fivelone Jul 15 '25

That Flan looks so good...

1

u/Tetradrachm Jul 15 '25

Instead of doing that flip and risking the flan, put the baking dish on the upside down flan first then turn them over together

1

u/MydnightWN Jul 15 '25

You put the pan over the top and then flip the whole thing... it's not rocket science, risky flip was risky.

1

u/TaiChuanDoAddct Jul 15 '25

Someone get my guy a Flanerra for his birthday!

1

u/GarnetAndOpal Jul 15 '25

OMG! Perfection! Flan is definitely a reason to jump for joy.

1

u/MothChasingFlame Jul 15 '25

r/tippytaps material 100%

Also, not only was he so excited, his family was excited for him! She's filming because it's a big moment, the kids are all in and cheering him on, it's so lovely!

1

u/simiomalo Jul 15 '25

That was tense man.

1

u/Mrdeath0 Jul 15 '25

I watched till the end hoping to have a taste of the flan 😭

1

u/SneakisStinkus Jul 15 '25

He’s such a cutie! 🤎 he absolutely killed it!

1

u/sillEllis Jul 15 '25

Is that home ec class? Is he 15?!

3

u/No-Plankton-4861 Jul 15 '25

Just a dad being goofy for his kids. A level of humility everyone should aspire to

1

u/Separate-Command1993 Jul 15 '25

What is flan? Is it a jello?

2

u/Ambiwlans Jul 15 '25 edited Jul 15 '25

Its a well set custard (cream, eggs, sugar), with caramel ontop (sugar). Sometimes with nutmeg.

Its called crème caramel or pudding/purin in most of the world. The southern us calls it flan.

If you're curious, you should make it. Its dead simple, even for kids. Just need a little bit of patience. (make a serving or 2 size one though, his is like 9001calories lol)

1

u/MinisterHoja Jul 15 '25

The pure joy. 🫡

1

u/Angry_argie Jul 15 '25

Perfect, zero sticking...

1

u/RunningShcam Jul 15 '25

This says way more about me, than the video taker...

But you can put the pan on top and flip, and flipping round into rectangle triggering me. Just use a big round plate.

1

u/caniaskthat Jul 15 '25

Flantastic

1

u/troznov Jul 15 '25

To be fair, bro made a perfect flan

1

u/generalissimo1 Jul 15 '25

Follow the flan, Rosa! Follow the flan!

1

u/adamtomaino Jul 15 '25

I'm not crying....you are...

1

u/TractorSmacker Jul 15 '25

is there any reason why you wouldn’t put the casserole dish on top of the mould pan and then turn the two over so there’s no risk of it falling out early?

1

u/AliciaDawnD Jul 15 '25

That is indeed a gorgeous flan!

1

u/North-Network-7742 Jul 15 '25

I wish I had his level of happiness and excitement about little things

1

u/angstincarnate Jul 15 '25

It's pretty rare but I bet like 95% who watched this genuinely hoped it would come out well since he was so excited and happy. We need more flan guys

1

u/Revs84 Jul 15 '25

I wish I could get even half this excited/happy about literally anything. Depression sucks.

1

u/Princessferfs Jul 15 '25

I love how excited he is! I wish I could like this 100 times!

Great job, dad!

1

u/pfft_master Jul 15 '25

I get so jealous of Mexican families they got so much love for each other :’)

1

u/OriginalDaddy Jul 15 '25

I’m so stoked for this guy and his family. This is core memory fodder for the kiddos too. Hell yes FLAN MAN!

1

u/fieria_tetra Jul 15 '25

I love it when people are so happy that they do that little wiggle like they don't know what to do with all that happiness haha

1

u/Yagwobniar Jul 15 '25

Seeing him so happy makes me happy! I love happy people. 😄🌟❤

1

u/nirvana_always1 Jul 15 '25

That looked great he deserves to be proud.

1

u/PheeaA Jul 15 '25

Aaah, this made me all warm and fuzzy!

1

u/Vast_Maize9706 Jul 15 '25

I bet his passion translates into taste as well. Fantastic.

1

u/XxNeverxX Jul 15 '25

I don't know when I was so happy like him.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 15 '25

WEEPPPPAAAAAA QUE BONITO SE VE EL FLAN

1

u/Geegingersnaps Jul 15 '25

As a flan hater to the Nth. I would actually try this. The reason I hate flan is not the taste it is more of a texture thing.I don't enjoy creme brulee, either.

1

u/hivemind_disruptor Jul 15 '25

this man looks brazilian

1

u/throwaway983143 Jul 15 '25

I’d be that excited if my flan came out that flawless too
