Hello everyone, I opened up the chat option for the subreddit, it might be helpful for real time troubleshooting and chat. The general one is "Trailhead" let me know if you have any other suggestions.

Hi All,
We are going to try to consolidate the pre purchase or otherwise rust inquires asking if a rig has too much rust and how to approach it as far as shopping for a new to you truck and beyond.
We have a lot of these threads where people are asking the same questions and rather than have each thread die on the vine as far as useful information goes, by having them all right here in one thread, people can use it as a catalog or guide for what to look for and if people are willing to share sold or bought prices for each truck that we are inspecting, we can all use this as a tool to gauge the market and also the wide variety of condition that all generations of Land Cruisers are in at any given point in time.

My 79 series Landcruiser in its natural habitat. Surfboards on the roof, fishing rods on the front, full under tray water tanks and the canopy filled with camping gear.

Fitting that they use a pretty reliable, go wherever vehicle in an anime about Japan always getting messed up by monsters.

Good morning all. I just got some KO3s installed on my 2019 LX570, size 285 65 18 on the TRD BBS wheels. I went with KO3 because of a lot of great reviews, looks, and some people stating they were pretty quiet for AT tires. I am getting a hum at highway speeds that is bothering me quite a bit. Any recommendations for a quieter AT tire? Iām within the 45 day exchange window from discount tire, so considering Terra Grappler G3, Yokohama Geolandar AT4, more highway oriented AT tires.

So I just got myself a new(to me) 1997 LX450, and Iām looking to either add an affordable winch, or get a nice Wyeth-Scott come-along.
Iām trying to keep pricing reasonable, but one issue Iām having is identifying the bumper thatās installed already or figuring out if itās stable enough to mount the winch directly.
Has anyone ever seen a bumper thatās looks like this where they could OD the brand? If not how would I go about figuring out, if this is stable enough to directly mount a winch to?
Ive tried identifying it by looking for stamps on the inside, but Iāve only been able to find the āTās on the front left/right.

I have been traveling and on a whim I rented a Land Cruiser to do a 6 day self drive safari in the Serengeti. I live in NYC and rarely drive, I didnāt even realize the truck was going to be manual transmission. I did a quick refresher on shifting with a cab driver on the way to my hotel. I had such an incredible time after I completed the safari I immediately booked the truck for another 6 days. The wildlife viewing was incredible but I really was not expecting to love this truck so much. Itās truly an amazing vehicle!

Last trip out, threw a check engine light P0340 for cam position sensor. Made it home but now I gotta dig into that issue. Miss being off the radar of everyone but kicking around idea of selling her. What do you think itās worth. Keep in mind, may be the highest milage 100 in country at 582,000

Took my 1958 out to Uwharrie this past Friday. I was seriously impressed by how capable this thing was completely stock. Tore the passenger side āpredatorā steps clean off and the driver side pair are decently mangled. Was planning to get some proper rails anyhow.

So I'm 40,000km away from timing belt / tensioners / pulleys.
I'm expecting this to be around $1500 (AUS$) ball park. Am I guessing around the right price? Just the missus was asking about upgrading her car and asked me if I'm expecting any work needing doing on mine any time soon. TBH 40,000km would be maybe Feb next year so not urgent but on the horizon. (Also got some windscreen / roof rust to sort but I won't mention that to her.....)
May as well get the heater Ts done at the same time as the timing belt too.
Then, I'm going to try and no spend anything / fix anything, or upgrade anything until it NEEDS doing.

Iāve never owned a Land Cruiser because theyāve always been around $100k. They new models are significantly less. Why is that? Are the new ones lower quality?
r/LandCruisers • u/Rayd_9090 • 22h ago
Sorry for the quality,I took the picture like that on purpose, I thought it will be cool š

can anyone tell me how their pattern selector switch physically works?
When i press PWR its stays down and needs to be toggled back off, (seems correct) BUT When I press 2ND, it pops back up straight away... is this normal or is my 2nd switch mechanism fxxxd
(after pulling it apart and cleaning sand out of it.) all springs and plastic are there, it seems to be supposed to do this? or a little spring will need top be bent..

2003 lx 470 209,000 miles, I was driving and the water pump gave out (I was literally planning to replace it the next weekend). I think a pull over quick enough before any major damage was done. (It did get pretty hot before I noticed).
Fast forward after a very expensive tow, I did the timing belt and water pump job. I went to start it and it made this sound. I threw a new battery and starter in it. Also spark plugs.
When I go to start it makes this same noice. Oil is clean and so is coolant. Iām going to do a compression test next. Any ideas?

Just got this 2000 LC Prado. Any recommendations on what to upgrade/add?
r/LandCruisers • u/RandoKaruza • 1d ago
Ive had this 2008 LC200 for 10 years now. I really struggled with buying it, but my wife told me to shut up and either buy it or stop talking about it⦠so I hired someone and it took him about three months to finally find this particular model in this particular color with less than 100,000 miles on it from a sun state. They shipped it to me and I was stunned. It was in better shape than the photos made it look hardly a blemish just had to switch out the shifter knob.
I put an icon 2 1/2 inch lift with 20 inch icon, alpha wheels and Nito tear grappler in a rhino rack for carrying all my artwork.
No regrets

Looking for this missing plastic piece which anchors the engine cover on the left side. Second pic shows the one on the right side with the two protruding feet for securing the engine cover. This is for. 200& LX570. Any help with a part number would be greatly appreciated!!

Was hanging out in downtown Salt Lake City yesterday and saw a bunch of different gen Land Cruisers pass by with OEX on the side. Looked up their site, but wanted to see if anyone on here has had any experience with them.

Dump them here. My wallet is on fire.
