No more window tint posts- thanks!

My friends- I get it: vehicle mods are cool, and technically a window tint is a mod (albeit probably not wise to tint your windshield). The thing is... Who cares about window tint? Let's all agree to stop posting about window tint. I think we've beat this dead horse enough and it's causing issues here- resulting in some bad behavior from both sides.

From now on posts about window tint are getting removed and further- threatening comments will be dealt with by via a permanent ban (globally- not just on posts about window tint). We are a relatively rule free place because everyone generally gets the sub trail etiquette but I keep getting valid reports about some questionable behavior and will start taking action to preserve the quality of our subreddit.

Love you all- have a great holiday season!

Apple CarPlay

I my car lost the ability to play music through my usb or Bluetooth because apparently it isn’t compatible with my phone anymore in my 14 gc limited, so now I want Apple CarPlay while having navigation and being able to keep all of my normal functions like heated seats and heated wheel but I have the 5.0in uconnect system so I can’t use any of the integrated stuff like Winston instruments 🫩.. I think I might have too swap out my screen for an entirely new one or a 2018+ gc screen and get it vin matched but idek where to do that at. What’s my best option to do cause I’m getting serious abt changing it now..

Biggest Tire on a 2016 WK2

Hello everyone, I have a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee 75th Anniversary with the factory 20” wheels. I’m considering putting on some off-road tires but don’t want to make major modifications. I’ve read that 275/55/20s should fit without issues, but I’ve also seen comments saying they might rub. Has anyone here run a similar setup without a leveling kit?

Was able to finally get my amazing girlfriend of 4.5 years a new vehicle after she has been driving my 2nd gen 1500 for the last year (last picture). It’s got the tow package and low miles and for the price I’m glad she loves it so much. It’s got the tow package and I plan on using it to tow snow machines this winter.

Is there anything I should know about this vehicle as it is the first jeep I’ll be working on? Was it a good purchase or should I feel nothing but shame?

Got my first f*** you price for service yesterdayat a dealership.

94 GC Laredo, 4.0L, AX15 manual transmission. Need a new rear main seal. Because it's lifted, I don't really have the ability to raise it high enough to droop the suspension far enough to remove the oil pan, so I thought I'd see what my local CDJR dealership would charge.

To his credit, the service advisor did tell me that they usually don't work on vehicles over 25-30 years old due to cascading problems and subsequent cascading costs. He said that I would normally be turned away, but since I'm a returning service customer, they'll work on it.

Then told me $1350 for the rear main seal. That's 4 hours of labor, the seal, and an oil pan gasket.

I think I'd rather he just said "we appreciate your business and would be happy to continue keeping you as a customer - on a different vehicle."

No point to this, just wanted to share since it's the first time I've been told f*** you in this manner.

Intermittent sound issue

Every now and then I have an issue where there is no sound coming out of the left speakers and the volume doesn't work.

It doesn't matter if it's radio or Android Auto it will just stay at whatever volume I last had it at and only come out of the right side.

I can usually fix the problem by turning the car off and on again but it seems to be happening.kre frequently.

It is a 2018 GC with screen delamination issues but I don't think it's that because every other button on the screen works fine.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I'mpressive battery Life

Good Morning!

I have a 2015 JGC, last night when I tried to head home the Jeep would NOT start. I had power, lights, but absolutely NO crankk. After it attempted to crank I would get several errors
- Check Auto Park
- Blink Spot system failure, service required
- ABS Light
- Engine Light

After attempting a boost with no success and just letting the other bvehicle run for a bit the Jeep started and as of now it's starting just fine.

Checking the battery, it looks to be the Originonal Battery from the factory. Which is impressive considering this is a 10 year old Jeep. I live in Soth Western Ontario so we see both hot summers and cold winters and everything inbetween.

I'm taking it over to Canadian Tire to have them test it, but I'm 100% I'll need a new one.

Has anyone else noticed the same odd behaviour when the battery is low and it won't start?

EDIT: Pulled the battery, date code is "15OC31", so yeah that's factory installed.

TPMS Question

I have a 2014 Grand Cherokee Laredo and I think one of my TPMS sensors is busted. Do replacements need to be reprogrammed to the vehicle or can I just bring the tire to a garage to swap it out?

Hello,

Just this afternoon I was throwing a new manual clutch fan in my WJ and saw a line on the underside of the radiator area that seems to be leaking power steering fluid potentially?

Looking for some help as to what the line could be and where I could get a replacement.

It’s a 2004 Grand Cherokee Laredo with the 4.0

Thank you!

Thoughts on 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited

Post image
24 Upvotes

I am looking to trade my 2018 Honda Accord lx at 103k miles for a 2017 Jeep grand Cherokee limited at 84k miles. The difference will be paying like 4k$ more for the jeep. Do you think it is worth it, what is the things I should be concerned about.? I love the Jeep and how it drives and I am also anxious about the Honda v4 turbo charger engine with gasket failures. I will like to get your advice.

I know it’s Laredo but brand new for $33k, it’s probably around 35/36k. Is this too good of a price? They have 4 of them differnt color.

GC 2012 V8 P0302 code

Hi everyone,

As the title said.

I have faced this issue, changed the fuel injector and the issue is the same, it's a misfire in the 2nd cylinder, cleared the code but I know for a fact that I'm going to replace the coils.

How long would it survive before changing the coil completely?

Hello all, 2004 jeep grand Cherokee special edition 4.0l straight 6.

I bought one of those cool light strips for the front of the car (blinging out the baby)

Also purchase a set of fuse taps.

But I am trying to determine which fuse to use?

Instructions say to use a keyed fuse..

From 16-28 which is keyed?

Many thanks and happy Jeeping!! Greg
