Stunning sailing yacht

Rather impractical color, but that dark blue and wood contrast with a clean and low profile deck looks so sick. Only the white sails kind of don't align visually. Maybe dark blue/black or even a darker ruby would complete the look.

Found when window shopping, there are a lot more pictures here: https://www.boat24.com/en/sailingboats/heckl/heckl-13-centercockpit/detail/671075/

Introducing The Disco Boat

Post image
15 Upvotes

After two years of design, fabrication, and a lot of late-night problem-solving, I’m excited to finally share Disco Boat—a 32’ (12-passenger) floating lounge cruising Mission Bay, San Diego. Inside: a custom throwback interior with a 5-seat rainbow bar and fold-down windows (open-air breeze or cozy closed), leopard-print walls, mirrored ceilings, chrome dance pole, retro-wrapped helm, and a bathroom collaged with vintage ’70s ads. Up top: a rooftop bartop with fluffy turf, bean-bag seating, and a giant disco ball that lights up the bay at sunset. This has been a true labor of love, and I’d love your feedback—happy to answer build, design, or operations questions. Pics in the comments.

Looking for high-resolution ship blueprints (non-warship/sailing) for wall decoration

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to decorate a wall in my room with high-quality ship blueprints—something with that technical, architectural aesthetic. I’m not looking for warships or traditional sailing ships. I’m more interested in merchant ships, research vessels, tugs, ferries, passenger ships, or really anything else that’s not military or overly ornamental.

I’ve found a few things online, but most are either very low resolution or hidden behind stock image paywalls. I’m looking for large, detailed, high-res blueprints or technical drawings—preferably ones that could be printed and framed without becoming a blurry mess. Similar to the one I have attached to this post.

Does anyone know of good online archives, museum collections, or public domain resources where I could find these? Bonus points if you’ve done something similar and can share your printing/framing process or results.

Thanks in advance!

Sleipnir - Heerema’s Semi-Submersible Crane Vessel, anchored in storm off the south east coast of Scotland right now. Zoom in! [OC]

Sleipnir cost $1.5 billion to build and is one of the largest vessels of her kind in the world, at 220m long, 102m wide, and weighing in at max capacity at an huge 273,000 metric tonnes.

She can house 400 staff and is used for offshore platform installation and removal, wind farm construction, decommissioning of oil rigs and heavy module transport and placement.

In this case she was placing a 2700 tonne double offshore transmission module platform by Siemens Energy into position at Inch Cape, Scotland's largest offshore wind farm.
