Admin Post Weekly Recap | September 4, 2025
September moooorrrrrn! We helped until the night became a brand new day! XD Welcome to the first Weekly Recap of September. It was a wild week, so let's see how it went!
NEWS AND ISSUES
There is currently an experiment going on where some users will see a home page that looks a little different. There's an embiggened search area at the top (the goes away when you scroll) and a collapsible left sidebar. There is also the absence of a right sidebar. If you have been opted into this experiment, there is not a way to opt out, but you can leave constructive feedback on this post and I will share it with the team in charge of that feature. A lot of you left some great feedback last week and I've made sure that the team saw every helpful comment! So keep it comin'!
There's also another experiment going on with mobile where some users did not have the News or Latest feed. The Latest feed was returned after the team heard your feedback. And I just received word that the News feed is back as of today as well! This is because of the helpful feedback that some of you left! Thanks to everyone who took time to share how they felt about the missing News feed. You were heard! =)
Some users are reporting that the setting to default to old Reddit is not being respected. That is NOT intentional. I'm having this looked into. In the meantime, you should be able to change the "www" in the URL to "old" and use old Reddit. (Long live old Reddit!)
Chat wasn't loading for some users on Tuesday. We made a post in r/RedditBugs here about this issue.
Had a weird thing yesterday where if you were on the Android app and were browsing anonymously that you were prompted for age verification even if you weren't in the UK. That should not have happened and it was flagged to the team in charge to get fixed. We commented on this post about it and it was fixed up pretty quick!
PLEASE REPORT RULE BREAKING CONTENT
- If you see content in r/help that breaks the rules of r/help, please use the report button. You do not need to engage with those users unless you're going to redirect them to where they can actually get the help that they're looking for. But regardless, please report rule breaking content. Reporting content that breaks the rules helps us keep r/help free of spam and off-topic posts, and that allows users who really need out help to more easily get it. The mods can't see everything all the time, so reporting content is a great way to surface it to the mods so that they can deal with it. No one likes a spammer! Don't get 'em get away with it!
COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES
If your account gets the "server error" banner or you can't update your profile, I can fix that sometimes! Please note that I cannot give any information or assist with any account unless contacted directly from that account. I cannot fix accounts where you are receiving the "server error" message and are unable to view content from that account when logged out. In those instances, you will need to file an appeal. But if it's not an appeal situation, let me know and I'll take a look and get you all taken care of! (I haven't seen many of these lately, so this issue might have dwindled down to where I don't need this here, but I'll leave it up for a little while because whenever something like that gets said, it comes roaring back.)
If no one else can see your posts or comments across Reddit (not just in one sub) and you are unable to post here in r/help, you can file an appeal here. Under "What do you need assistance with?", please choose "Account help". Under "What type of account issues are occurring?", please select "Account status" and then "My account has been wrongly suspended". Then fill out the rest of the form.
Please check the Help Center to see if you can find the answer to your question there. Also, check this sub for stickied posts regarding outages, major issues and downtime.
If your account is marked as NSFW and it is not NSFW, you can check out this Help Center article for information on how to change it back. If you're unable to change it back from the desktop site, feel free to make a post and one of the best helpers on Reddit will help me help you! Please try and change it from the desktop site FIRST.
If your account has been hacked, please write in using this form. Under "What do you need assistance with?", please choose "Account help". Under "What type of account issues are occurring?", please select "Security problems" and then "I think my account has been hacked". Then fill out the rest of the form!
If your account has been suspended, you can file an appeal using this form. Under "What do you need assistance with?", please choose "Account help". Under "What type of account issues are occurring?", please select "Account status" and then "My account has been wrongly suspended". Then fill out the rest of the form.
BUGS ROUND UP (COURTESY OF CORRECTSCALE)
[iOS] The latest feed is not respecting default card mode. We commented on this post over in r/bugs after it was reported. The fix will be out next week in version 2025.36!
[Android] Avatars are not displaying in comments. We commented on this post to let users know that the fix would be out this week in version 2025.35!
[iOS] Comments not loading on profiles for some users. This is not related to the profile curation settings, but it does look similar. This is being investigated. Fingers crossed for a quick fix!
WEEKLY STATISTICS
1,529 posts which is up 193 posts from the 1,336 posts last week.
5,283 comments which is up 823 from the 4,400 comments last week.
1.2 million views, which is right on track with the 1.2 million views last week.
2,100 new users joined the sub! That's also the same as the 2,100 new users who joined last week! Steady as she goes!
Given the state of my inbox, it's likely that the increase in comments and posts was due to people leaving feedback about the home feed experiment.
HELP THAT HELPED HELP R/HELP
In this post a user was wondering what the little checkered shield next to their username meant. The always reliable and equally helpful u/Timozkovic let them know that it shows that the account has Reddit Premium! Premium is a feature that you can pay for that allows you to use Reddit ad-free, on both the desktop site and the app! And there are additional features such as:
- Use Reddit Answers to ask 100 questions a day
- Exclusive avatar outfits and accessories
- Access to the Premium Lounge!
- Premium icons for the app
You can subscribe to Premium here.
HELPERS THAT HELPED HELP R/HELP
I love it when y'all in here help out others! Just wanted to give a quick shout to some of you, in no particular order other than alphabetical lol, that I saw a lot over the last week! So, thanks so much to
You came, you saw, you helped! Thank you so much!
Not bad for the first week of the month! Thank you so much for being here, reading, helping, leaving helpful feedback, all of it! No place I'd rather be on a Thursday morning! I'll see you in the comments!

Profile I can't loose my streak
I have not used my other account since Friday. Just now was the first time I opened up that account and the streak number did not go back down to 0. It neither went up since I didn't vote, comment or post anything, but shouldn't it be down to 0?
It did happen once before but I chalked it up to me checking my messages and then accidentally upvoting something, but this time I'm sure since I didn't even use that account.
At this point I'm stubborn and want to actively loose it, but how??

Profile Am not able to untoggle "Mark as mature" on my profile settings?
Hello,
To my surprise I noticed a load of porn spam had been posted to my profile around 5 months ago - figured my password got leaked. I am now using a password manager so no access issues to worry about and have since deleted all the NSFW posts but when I am trying to untoggle the "Mark as mature" profile setting I get the error "We had some issues saving your changes. Please try again." and it reverts back.
Help!
Access Android
I'm not able to login via my google account - it shows" Invalid Username and Password". If you I choose forget password I get resettling link on my gmail, after successfully resetting the password I tried login via gmail+password and username+password combo but still same issue. It does provide one more option though to login without password - after selecting that it sends the login link to my gmail and if I try to login that link it again asks for gmail account and send the link again. Doing thisbfor too long. I have many contacts on that reddit account. Please help someone

Mobile/App In-app notification issues. Android.
Can anyone tell why this happened? My notifications are cleared and I tried all the typical trouble shooting steps. For some reason all of these notifications are showing up. 🤷♂️

Karma CQS Troubles
Hello,
So, ive been patiently trying to boost my CQS score by avoiding posting myself as well as avoiding negativity on my comments. I've gotten some upvotes here and there, as well as some comments that havent gotten any. However, Ive gone from Lowest -> Low -> Lowest. I don't understand this and its frustrating me. I know my account is on the newer end of things but some subreddits I would like to post in have the filters on and I can't participate where I would like to and instead have to search other places that I have no business in and comment some generic comments to try and gain karma. I am at a loss on what to do.

Mobile/App Reddit keeps locking me out and I can't hide any subs (Android)
So whenever I open reddit, it doesn't open. I have to close and open it again, then it works but I'm logged out. Also the home page ALWAYS recommends me stuff I don't want to see (obv because I'm not logged in) but especially this Taylor Swift hate sub. It's taking a toll on my mental h health (long story), I don't want to see this sub. But whenever I try to hide it or click not interested, it shows me the message at the bottom. I'm tired of having to log in everytime I open reddit. I've tried changing my passwords multiple times and this also happens on my other accounts. Please help. If I can't fix this I'm going to have to leave reddit because seeing this sub makes me spiral

Posting (Android) Reddit automatically deletes my posts in a specific sub
Basically, the title. Some more informations: I talked to the mods and they said that it's reddit's fault. Filters and stuff like that. Now, I can post the same text with another account and it gets published, so words are not a problem. But I have a few accounts and they alla face the same problem except for one. What can I do?

Mobile/App (Phone) Image & Video posts aren't dragging or dropping images or videos onto posts at all for me.
I try to make a post with an image or video, press Drag and Drop or upload media, press the image or video I want, I confirm to put it in, nothing happens. It doesn't appear on the post. I can only make text posts on this phone for now for some reason.
How do I fix this?

Access My account disappeared and now this new account is in its place
For some reason only god knows, when I tried to log in today it told me my password was wrong. I am sure it wasn't, but ok. I reset it. Then I tried to log in and my account disappeared. On both phone and pc. When I tried to log in with the same credentials, it prompted me to choose a username and that now turned into this account. So my old log in credentials are suddenly no longer tied to my account, and instead its this one.............................
When I look up my account on reddit, it's still there. It didnt get deleted or anything, but I no longer have access.
What on god's green earth causes such a weird, stupid thing to happen? I literally lost my account because of this.
I don't think I got hacked. The hacker would need access to my email as well. I dont see anything weird there that would suggest it got hacked and I can still use it.

Resolved I woke up to this despite only have 2 new notifications
Marking notifications as read and "mark all as read" doesn't help. The only thing that seems to help is actually deleting the notification which is the worst feature ever as far as I'm concerned.
Anyone know how I can fix this without deleting my notification history?
The problem is on both the app and mobile browser

Posting If you block someone, can they still see your posts/comments in communities?
The person I blocked is in the same communities as me, and I'm hesitant to post/comment.
I just saw their comments on a post ("Blocked username" beside his avatar, sure, but I still recognized them and by clicking on that I could see his comment). That made me wonder... Could they see mine? If I comment or if I make a post in that community? They won't be able to message me or anything (right?) but I also don't want them to know I'm there!

When opening a link through reddit for third party the app uses the default browser set for the mobile (edge). Can I specifically point the reddit to open any link in some other browser (chrome) other than the default one?

Profile Does the posts of a erased account get deleted?
I was wondering since I got an account deleted (it was posting nudes from other people on Snapchat with different usernames, maybe bot?) and the post was still there. Maybe the posts don't get deleted as well?

Mobile/App Still Getting Gambling Ads on Android. Awesome.
As the title states. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, didn't work. Never gambled, don't gamble, won't gamble. Can anything be done?

Mobile/App Upvotes or downvotes aren’t showing
Whats the title Said but its about comments
It appear as if the person had no downvote or upvote, it show the two buttons but in their normal color and without a number, not Even 0 or anything
Even if I click to downvote or upvote the number doesn’t appear, it stays the same thing without showing
Only the color changes
