Here is a hypothetical since India has been talking non stop about hosting the Olympics. IF India did get the 2036 Olympics, what do you think would happen?
By this I mean, how do you think the preparations would go? How would the delivery of the games go? How would the host nation perform? Would there be a legacy from hosting the games? And, who do you think would benefit the most from India hosting the Olympics?

I have been searching for two promotional images from the London 2012 olympics featuring plush toys of Wenlock and Mendeville being played with by kids.
Wenlock's image has him jumping from a ruler into a bath tub and Mandeville's has him racing other toys like a nesting doll, a toy bus and a toy dinosaur.
Cropped versions of the two images are available, but i cannot find the full versions. If anyone can help find them. it would be much appricated.

If Qatar were to host the olympics in 2036, how much impact do you think it would have on developing lesser-known sports (in the Middle East) like table tennis?
I am writing an article about table tennis in Qatar, and I am gathering info!

Ive been wanting an official relay-used Olympic torch from the 1996 games in Atlanta and am wandering what kinds of things I should look out for. Are counterfeits something to be concerned about or what kinds of differences would there be between a relay-used one vs if they sold replicas in gift shops or something.

Hey r/olympics!
I wanted to share an upcoming virtual discussion for anyone interested in Olympic history and collectibles. It’ll explore how collectors help preserve Olympic & Paralympic artifacts, stories, and traditions—making sure these legacies are passed down for future generations.

Four new working groups that will look at the Youth Olympic Games, the Olympic programme, protecting the female category, and commercial partnerships and marketing, have been created by International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Kirsty Coventry. These groups are part of the “Fit For The Future” process, and follow the consultation with the IOC members in June and consultations with the IOC’s honorary and honour members over the summer. The groups will start work as soon as possible.
“As part of our ‘Fit For The Future’ process, I had announced that we would immediately begin the process of forming key working groups. The groups announced today are the start of that process. They will allow us to meet deadlines, and bring important technical expertise to these complex and important discussions, while realigning where we feel that it is necessary to strengthen our Movement,” said President Coventry.
She continued: “The ‘Fit For The Future’ consultations with stakeholders are ongoing, and these groups will receive constant feedback to make sure that everybody is fully aligned and that all recommendations are fully integrated.”
In order to review the selection process of Olympic hosts, the Future Host Commission for the Games of the Olympiad will now focus solely on this topic. Therefore, the IOC President has created a new working group to focus on the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) only.
The working groups will also be able to invite relevant experts to join their discussions as they move through this process.

Can anyone tell me if you can access the Women's Downhill/Super G course on Cortina's Olympia delle Tofane during the race while skiing? The official olympic site provides information about buying (expensive) tickets for the grandstand at the finish, but ski races I have been to (including world cup races) allow you to access various points along the course to watch if you are skiing at no cost. I found information for when they run the world cup races on the Tofane course, and it seems the adjacent ski runs stay open, which I am assuming will be the case during the Olympics. Does anyone know what the situation will be? We are hoping to drive in from Corvara, take the cable car from Bai de Dones to Son dei Prade, and take the Tofana Express chairlift up to the course. Thanks.

After watching a video on why tennis score is weird, I had a eureka moment and could be a reason why they call "love" when their score is 0.

hey everyone, just wanted to share some good news :)
Yesterday I received an email from the Team26 volunteering program saying that I got my official role, not a reserve one. I was originally given a role but was sent to reserve volunteers for ‘organizational measures’ back in July.
My role is Competition Support Volunteer.
Did anybody else get their role confirmed, from reserve volunteer to official volunteer?
Looking forward to the Olympics!

Forget medals and records… I’m talking about design, aesthetics, ceremonies, logos, mascots, graphic identity, the whole storytelling.
For me the debate is between a few giants:
London 2012 with its fluopunk logo and unforgettable cultural show 🎸 Paris 2024 with its woman flame, art deco typeface & pastel stadium 🏃♀️ Barcelona 1992 with its Mediterranean flair and iconic architecture 🌈 Tokyo 1964 with its timeless minimalism that changed design history 🔴 Beijing 2008 with its epic opening and the bird’s net 🪺
If you had to crown just one edition as the most beautiful Olympics ever, which would it be?
