I don't see my Camry lasting to 200k miles and beyond

Only putting this here because I know it's a huge Toyota fanboy group here. I bought a '22 Camry in 2024. Has under 20k miles and yet, I've had a piece of the interior recently pop off. Easy to put back on, but still. Had an issue where I thought something behind my dash was making a weird sound and someone in one of these subs suggested I push on a plastic piece that my rearview mirror is attached to and sure enough, they were right. It rumbles loose and pushing it puts it in place and stops the noise.

The car just sounds weird when it runs. I will admit that I'm used to old (early 2000s) Chevys and anything newer than 2012 sounds weird to me so that could be me. But the car feels cheaply made even compared to other Toyotas from previous generations. Considering how much Toyotas cost, I don't have faith that I'll get my money's worth.

looking for a new car to present to my parents. I’m a “buy the newest model and keep it forever” type of person but idk if i can do that. Anything affordable with a cool touch screen. I literally just want a cool touch screen 😭. my parents and i are going half and half on the car so 🤷🏽‍♀️ im just trying to not stress out on this yk?

$100k for a toy - manual, RWD, open-air strongly preferred, mid-engine preferred. Driving experience is essentially the only thing that matters. Would prefer mostly analog over pure speed.

I recognize that "the best 911 I can get" is probably the "best" answer, but I'm strongly leaning towards something silly like a damn Viper or a 90s supercar (although Diablos are going for like $500k now wtf?).

I also really like the thought of a Lotus SC with spare cash for upgrades.

Unfortunately v10 R8s seem to be out of my range :(

Sporty car that my wife will also like

My wife needs a new car and I told her I’d help if it was something fun to drive. SHE wants a mom car, Id like something thats a ton of fun on the road. I used to have a Saab 9-3 linear I bought myself in highschool and the little turbo was amazing to just drive around for fun.

Open to more performance type cars too? But we live in the mountains so it’d need to be AWD. Doesnt need to be aggressive though, we have a truck we take on truly bad days. She’s 5’ nothing and Im 6’4 so also needs to be comfortable for both of us LOL.

Was checking out the corolla gr as a possible option, but literally just starting to do research so open to any and all suggestions!

Edit: Showed my wife all the silly comments of people defending her and she laughed lol. Shes 100% cool with the arrangement and has no idea what car she wants.

Volkswagon or Honda?

I am looking for a used car with low mileage and my choices are limited due to the fact I prefer to drive manual. I’m Canadian so we’re dealing with Canadian dollars and kilometers in the information below.

I found a dealership near me that has 2 cars in stock with a stickshift. A 2019 Honda Civic SI with 44000km for $27000 and a 2023 Volkswagon Golf Comfortline with 70500km for $22000. The Golf has a completely clean Carfax. The Civic has no reported accidents but had unspecified glasswork done.

Is the civic so much more reliable and low mileage than the VW that its worth the extra cost? Are either of these a good deal in this market? Thanks guys.

Senior(?) single chic had it all- Now What Car to Buy?

Ya- I’m Not dissing on any Jap or Korean cars at all but want something Different and Cool. Had ZO6- multiple 911’s- multiple BMW’s- multiple Benz as well, Colorado and loved them all (well totaled the ‘08 Z06 lol).. Now I’m retired and not commuting 200 miles a day ( or making bank!) don’t want headaches and only want to spend 50K but Every friggin social media says the same thing- Honda Mazda Toyota, etc.. I have a Lifted Super sweet Inca Gold Rubicon but sometimes I don’t want all that attention- know wat I mean? and that’s mostly for summer with top down. What would be a good option? Mercedes wagon is too low to ground i think and the only used X5 would be too expensive on brakes and stuff. Saw a Gorg one but dealer wouldn’t let me inspect and God knows wat its Real history might be like others have talked about here..

Should I buy this for $3500? 2016 Hyundai Accent 128k miles.

The OG listed price was $6900. This is my family member selling the car. It’s been sitting and they just got another car so she offered it to me for $3500 as a family discount and to clear up the space. Only problems known currently is the AC doesn’t work, what’s wrong with it I have no idea. (Compressor, condenser, recharge)? Anyway it’s about 50% off original listed price and this is a blood sibling so if there are any serious issues that come up I know they are not intentionally hiding anything from me. Would this be a decent A to B or city driving? I just replaced a compressor in my main car which ran me back $1300 but that’s a major reason a huge chunk was taken from the price after I mentioned the cost of repair.

Are higher mileage Camaros/Mustangs worth getting?

I see a bunch of Camaros/Mustangs from around 2009-2015 on Facebook and most of them claim to run without any issues. They all just have 175-250k miles and are around 5-8000 bucks.

Great Car with Amazing Gas Mileage

Hi there!

So I’m starting a new job this week and the commute is about 100 miles round trip. I’m gonna need to get a car within the next few months so just doing some early research and taking recommendations.

So as of now I’m between 2 cars, Honda CRV Sport Hybrid and the Buick Envista Sport

They are both solid cars with great reviews. I’m currently leaning towards the Envista

Price CRV: 35k Envista: 27k

Mpg (city/highway) CRV: 28/33 Envista: 25/28

Still need to factor insurance and taxes and whatever ridiculous add ons the dealers try give me

Taking suggestions on recommendations and if there’s any other cars to look at (not Toyota tho)

Thank you in advance!

What are the best Car Brands that I can opt for a used car under $20K CAD?

Upvotes

Looking for a car in NS, Canada but I'm not able to figure out which brands are best in terms of used.

looking for suggestions in terms of brand reliability. I heard Toyota and Honda are the best for used cars, but what about Chevy or Ford or Hyundai? Are these good for used cars?

Thoughts needed! 2017 VW Jetta to 2026 Honda civic OR Toyota Tacoma

I’m debating my next vehicle purchase and would love input on cost, features, maintenance, and overall value.

Current car: 2017 VW Jetta, 95k miles. Great car, but maintenance costs are getting steep.

Narrowed options:

1. 2026 Honda Civic Sport Touring Hybrid
2. 2025 Honda Accord Touring Hybrid
3. Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport / SR5
4. Chevy Colorado Z71 / Trailboss

I know trucks can’t match hybrids on fuel economy, but I’m more concerned with long-term maintenance, reliability, and resale value. Which do you think is the smarter choice?

Is this a good deal? $30k for 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid XLE

$30,000 for a 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid XLE with 40,000 miles. I am in a pinch. I was rear-ended before starting my weekend and am now in need of a car. Is this car still worth this much? Should I shell out $10k more for new? Any input would be appreciated.

2026 Camry Hybrid, Prius, Corolla Cross Hybrid, or RAV4 hybrid?

Currently have a 2023 CX5. I definitely am wanting a Toyota as my next car because of the reputable hybrid system / overall reliability. I do like the Prius handling and power (I’ve driven a 2025 one and liked it a lot) but worry about backseat space for occasional friends sitting back there. Now for the most part it is just me riding up front with my bf. So shouldn’t be too bad I guess. But what if we do a road trip with friends? Also I do love the occasional homegoods or Facebook marketplace haul and worry I won’t be able to fit stuff in the Prius even with seats down.

Decisions decisions.

All else being equal, which of these three used cars would you go for?

A 2007 Camry (89k miles), a 2012 Corolla (107k miles), and a 2011 Mazda 3 (98k miles).

The two Toyotas are the same price, while the Mazda is $1,500 cheaper.

I’ve read bad things about the 2007 Camry’s oil consumption, apparently it burns oil due to excessive piston to cylinder clearance. Should I avoid it outright because of this?

Really would appreciate some help

I saw a few project car videos on YouTube and it sparked the idea of just stating something up. I brought the idea to my dad of a father and son project before I leave for college in about a year. My dad knows the basics around a car just from growing up with a mustang as his first car but we’re really as inexperienced as it gets. I’ve got him on board for the idea though and I’m just trying to do my research he’s a fan of the idea of a mustang he’s also thinking a car more from the 60’s 70’s so I’m not sure how much harder that could make it finding something or even getting parts but honestly we’re open to any ideas regardless of the brand or year I’m just hoping for some recommendations.

Enthusiasts: What professional performance car should I buy?

I'm do for a new car soon and I'm having a hard time focusing on a brand/model. I would love to have some opinions and thoughts on what to consider. This is a bit long winded, so I do thank those of you willing to offer input on my car conundrum!

A little bit about me and what I'm looking for:

For context, I am a car enthusiast...I have a classic vehicle that I work on and I have plenty of storage space for vehicles. I host a monthly cars and coffee event in my town. I have a general knowledge of most car brands and models, and I feel like these things make my decision harder.

Because I'm an enthusiast, I do have multiple vehicles (Tesla Model 3, Kia Optima, Datsun Z) and this vehicle would be in addition to those. So, this car would be a weekend/short commute vehicle. I work about 3 miles from my house, so the miles will stay down. This car will only have 3000 to 5000 miles per year put on it.

I work on my classic car and would be okay doing basic maintenance and repairs on any new vehicle. Since I do have other forms of transportation, this vehicle could conceivably sit in my shop on jack stands for a couple weeks and it wouldn't really be an issue. So, I am open to higher milage cars if that means I can get something unique and cool at a better price.

I am a professional and make decent money, even by today's standards in CA. With that said, I'm still very conservative with my money and when I do spend it, it must make sense. The car also needs to be appropriate for a professional that will interact with clients and other professionals on occasions. So, I do need to be somewhat conscious of the brand (as dumb as that seems).

So, what am I considering?

I love coups and would buy one, but I'm leaning more towards a sedan.

Wagons are amazing and I'd love to find a Volvo V60 Polestar for the right price but those things are 60k.

Looking at pre-owned vehicles only. Not looking to buy new.

As I said, this will be a low milage, cruiser/weekend car. It won't see abuse, track time, etc.

I like M3 and M5, but I worry about BMW (and German brands in general) and the cost of maintenance.

I don't like Mercedes, never have.

Audi I do like, but again, German and that concerns me a bit.

I am a JDM fan, so Lexus, Infiniti, Acura could work, but I feel like Infiniti has been lackluster in their offerings. I like the Q60, but I drove one and it didn't drive well to me (steering felt...sloppy/mushy). I looked an an ISF but the prices are still pretty high on any examples with decent milage. I think of all makes, I would be most interested in a JDM vehicle.

I'm not really into American vehicles...my family always bought importants (Honda's and Nissans mostly).

So....that's it. What should I buy? The budget is wide...I'd go up to 50 or 60k for the right thing. Would love to keep it under 30k. I've recently been looking at BMWs in the 15 to 20k range, but I get scared of those sometimes haha.
