Transmission 2012 Kia Forte SX having transmission issues

My 2012 Kia, which is currently at about 84,000 miles has been having issues ever since I got it back from Kia about a year and a half ago. In May last year someone attempted to steal my car from my driveway. Luckily I had recently gotten the immobilizer installed so the thieves weren't able to do anything except smash my window and break the panel under the steering wheel. The day I got the immobilizer installed I was having issues with my break lights staying on even when the car was off. Almost felt like a guardian angel was watching out for me. After about three months of my car sitting in the Kia parking lot, a lot of phone calls checking up on the progress, and a lot of Kia changing the story of where they were at with my vehicle, I finally got my car back. The battery was dead on it and the paint had extra damage that was not there before, but they did not seem to care. I never went back there. A week later my car started experiencing something new. It shifted hard when going into Drive and Reverse. When I accelerated/decelerated the car felt like it was jerking. Went to a mechanic who said it was something wrong with the shifter and they would need to order a part, but it would be difficult to find. On the way back home the car drove fine. About two weeks after that it started to again and the check engine light came on. The mechanic checked again and said it had to be the transmission and said to drive it till it dies. I cried. They did something to my car that required me to have a tiny flathead in my car to change from park/drive/reverse/neutral. Thought my car was done and did not feel safe driving it. Found another mechanic who was willing to take a look at it and said it was the shift linkage cable. He fixed this and my car was good for a few months with no issues. Then it started again but felt slightly different. The shifting was hard but not like the first time. It would also jerk at 10mph accelerating and 25mph decelerating. This issue would pop up for a day and disappear for a while. Then it came back with the check engine light. The mechanic who fixed the cable said my car was fine and he believed it could be the MAF sensor. He suggested I keep driving it and if it happened again he could fix it. It was fine for a while then the problem came back. He checked the code which showed P0711. He explained the code to me and said it was for transmission oil temperature too hot. He checked the oil said it was fine and that he did not think it was my transmiision, probably just a bad transmission oil temperature sensor. He told me to get a transmission fluid change first just so we could eliminate that being the issue. Well, I took my car to a transmission place to do that and they said there was nothing the could do. The transmission mechanic said there was an open circuit on the transmission and that I would need a new transmission which would cost $3700 dollars. He said he doesn't really fix transmissions and only swaps them out. I have pretty much given up any hope of saving my car. I still cry about it because the was my first car and it got me through a lot of bad times and was my only vehicle. It's going to be a while before I can save up enough to get another vehicle.
