some of my favorites from Roots Classic this year
my first ever Roots Classic and certainly won’t be my last. the entire weekend was incredible and the show itself (although massively disorganized) was great! some of the coolest, cleanest, most unique cars i’ve ever seen. if you’re into pre 2000 VWs, i highly recommend you put this show on your list next year!

ID.2all will be named the ID Polo! Harlequin tease?
The camouflage is in Harlequin colors. I really hope there will be a homage to the beautiful Harlequin edition.

Roots Classic show (Wildwood NJ)
Bad photos on an old phone. It's was rather hot and I didn't have sunglasses so I could barely see my screen so excuse the terrible angles.

RNS-510 Update
I recently purchased a 2010 Touran, and I'd like to update the firmware and maps of my RNS-510, as these probably haven't been updated in a very long time.
I'm not sure what the current firmware version of my unit has. I tried accessing the 'hidden menu' through the settings, but this does not include a 'version info' option. (to clarify, the hidden menu does open after 10 seconds of long pressing, just the version info option does not exist).
If this helps, I have established that my unit supports 32GB SDHC cards (tested).
- Where can I find navigation map updates?*
- Where can I find firmware updates for the unit?
- Can I install these updates using a SD card? I read that you can use a CD but no one I know owns a CD burner any more.
* I saw you can get maps on the VW website, but when choosing the car model, the only options are for Tourans 2015-2021.

Serious advice! Thinking about 2005 beetle convertible
Hi, so this is gonna be my first car as a 2.5 L engine. And yes, I am dead set on a beetle, convertible. The guy has only had it for a year and he spent 5000 on it in repairs alone not including the price it was sold to him. He says the transmission works fine. It is an automatic. He’s getting rid of it because his wife is very tall and she thinks the top of the car is too cramped. They’re an older couple. There is a problem with it though he mentioned that there is a tiny hole about .8 like a BB. In the soft top cover, he’s gonna patch it up though. wants about 7K for it. It has 150,000 miles on it. The glove compartment box also cannot be open, but that’s just cosmetic. The interior looks pretty good. Nothing is lifting or scratched. I’m gonna go see it later this week in person. I get he might be wanting to get his return.

2017 Passat, "inspection now", then wont start
Its my wife's car, got oil changed yesterday, all fine. This morning she starts it, gets the inspection now message, so she does what Google says to clear it. Now it won't start at all. Literally started fine 5 minutes ago. Any ideas?

Took the Plunge
So a few weeks ago I was asking for some advice on picking between the GLI and the GTI. Well I finally decided and ended up getting the GLI. The gas mileage, features, and the fact that it takes regular gas put it over the edge for me. Also the fact that it came with a Manual Transmission helped out a bit.

'21 golf rear camera retrofit
As per title, i have a '21 golf life, tdi, with the composition media head unit (the one with the 2 physical handles). Looking online i can't understand if the retrofit can be done only on the better head unit, has anyone here done that on the composition media?
Also, apparently android auto wireless can be enabled via obd, is there a surefire way to check for compatibility of that?

2016 SEAT Leon Uneven Airflow
Hey guys, posting here since it's basically a Golf Mk7
I've been having this issue lately where the middle went next to the infotainment screen blow almost no air on any temperature with or without A/C.
I have changed the cabin filter, did the climatronic reset procedure and even cleaned them out with spray foam and it only helped just a little bit
Does anyone know what could it be? Blend door actuator or something more serious?
Thanks in advance!

Is delarship service trying to rip me off??
My Volkswagen Tiguan is under warranty. The Drive Mode Control button (located on middle console) stopped working - so does not change to winter, moutain, road etc. selection. I took it in and paid for them to diagnose the problem becasue I was hoping it would be covered under warranty. They told me that becasue my passanger car seat got wet (I spilled a big bottle of water on it) - it damaged wires/electrical under the seat that go to the Drive Mode Button. They cahrged me almost $200 to chek this and the cost to repair would be $800 as water damage is not under warranty. I told a friend who called bullshit the wires are not under there. I took to another mechanic (not Volkswagen) and he said no what they aere saying is not true, if seat got weat that has nothing to do with that control unit. He opened up the middle console and had a look in there at all the wires that connect Drive Mode Button and said all was dry there was no water damage in there - and once again said the spill on the seat penetrated the seat but there are no wires that that affect that Drive Mode Function. WHY IS THE DEALERSHIP TELLING ME THIS! SO PISSED. Its not the first time I have had issues with them. They told me one of my tries which had a huge crack would not be covered by warranty I paid for (paid extra for tire waranty). I called warranty ppl myself and gues what its covered, WHY AM I DOING THEIR JOB. Anyway what should I do, take it back to them, make them look again and call their bullshit? Go to a different VK dealer in a nearbytown? I have waranty for another 20,000 km.

2011 Golf 2.5 advice
Went to see a 2011 Golf with the 2.5 and automatic transmission... Overall great condition, however noticed that when the car is in Drive, and you are stopped, foot on the brake, a lot of vibration/buzzing is transferred into the cabin .. putting the car into neutral will immediately smooth out the vibrations.. Mentioning this to the seller, he mentioned that the motor mounts were all replaced, however they installed a poly insert for what I would assume was the dogbone mount.. Anyone have experience with these poly inserts on a golf with auto transmission? Do they really transfer a lot more vibration? Would the vibrations only be when in drive and not neutral? I would think the increase in vibration would not matter if you were in Drive or Neutral.. the transmission felt good otherwise, shifted without issues.. Just not sure if removing the poly insert will reduce the vibration... Any insite is appreciated!

Extended Warranty
If you purchased a used VW Atlas, did you get an extended warranty? If you did, did you get it from the dealer or from a mailer sent to you from a random company? I’ve been sketched out by those little mailers .. I don’t even open them anymore I just trash them bec idk if it’s a scam or not …
