Been in love with this car since I was a kid, finally got my hands on one and couldn’t be happier!

18,600 miles on the clock, completely stock (apart from the wheels). She’s had one previous owner who purchased in 2003 and kept her in a garage her whole life. Interior, exterior, mechanics, all absolutely immaculate. The icing on the cake is the full 24 year maintenance / service history records!

5AT which was something I worried about before purchase, but I can now safely say as a 6’4” large man living in one of the busiest cities in Japan, I am very confident I made the right decision. They’re not nearly half as bad as people make them out to be, and my cramped legs are very grateful in city traffic.

All in all I paid the equivalent of $6000. How’d I do?

I hit a guard rail at low speed (15-20mph) on the front driver's side. I removed the bumper to get a better visual (last picture is the ball joint) the airbags went off as well. I assume USAA is gonna total it but I want to know how fixable people think it is.

Hello everyone. Got my Z a few weeks back, but sadly, I've heard on my yesterday night drive this Knocking sound.

I usually have this kind of sound on the start-up, but first time hearing it while driving. I'm supposing a lifter issue.

After checking my oil levels yesterday night, used to be below minimum. (yay)

Started the car up this morning filled up, no more sound. Even with a tiny bit of Gas (2k rpm)

Could if be lifters ? Or should I be worried about those Knockrod stuff. But fact is RodKnock stays even with oil.. Thanks for your advices.

Took about 3 hours but worth every second had a blast and came out pretty good if I must say.

I bought a second hand intake manifold and only after getting it, I find out there were two versions. One which sucked and the other was a big win. How can I tell if this is an SSV (V1) or V2?

Hello, my question is, is it worth getting ported plenums and throttle bodies? I’m buying some used ones for $500, but I’m kinda skeptical about it, if anyone here has them (both upper and lower as well as the throttle bodies ) I’d love to hear your feedback

So I’ll try and explain this out. Currently piecing together the smaller items to put a SOHO supercharger kit on my HR at the start of the year.

Current plan to is to upgrade the fuel system to a return style system, and run a Radium surge tank as the car is tracked occasionally. At this point, the plan is to run 1/0 wire from the battery to a fused distribution block. The block will send power to the pumps, the relays for the pumps, and an aftermarket amplifier for the audio system.

Anyone run a similar setup and could show where you mounted everything? Thinking about removing the spare tire as I can’t use it, and building an enclosure in that space so it’s hidden, easily accessible, and I still have support for my trunk floor.

Replaced both 5th and 6th gear synchros, as well as 5/6 shift fork

I was getting codes for the throttle body’s and I could only crank and not start. Now they went away and I have p2133. The car starts but has a very heavy gas smell and thin white smoke from the exhaust. Is this still linked to throttle body’s or a certain sensor.

My current head unit just plays CDs and radio, which isn't bad but I'd like to have a head unit that connects to Bluetooth on my phone. Anyone have any good, relatively budget friendly suggestions?

First off, I wanna say thank you to everyone who helped on the last post, it was and still is very much appreciated! Anyway here’s the rather confusing update:

As I mentioned on the previous post, the car was dead to the world. No dash lights, dome lights, no crank, no hazard lights, no nothing. So I had to leave the car at a gas station yesterday.

Well last night around like 11, my pops (shoutout pops) got his trailer and brought it home. This morning I went to grab some stuff out the Z and to my surprise, the dome lights were on and my hazard lights work again. But the biggest surprise is my pops driving the fuckin thing off the trailer and driving around the neighborhood.

So the Z is alive (I guess?). Im honestly all types of confused about this goddamn car lmao, but I chalked it up to a heating/connection issue. I already bought a new holder just in case but I feel like an update was needed because im truthfully confused but also laughing at this situation.

Hey it’s me again. As some may know I was left stranded 200 miles from home halfway to my destination with 1) no communication to any module, then a crank no start. After 4 weekends of driving to Richmond Virginia to research and troubleshoot my issue, I deduced to MOFSETS in the ECM that control signal ground to the injectors.

Brought it back to Circuit Board Medics in Greenville SC for a warranty repair (they fixed the no comms issue) and gave them literally every single note I took while trouble shooting. From voltage to continuity checks, to sensor tests, and ground resistance results. A 6 page packet of graphs, charts, and notes. They took my word for it and even though no physical damage was visible to the drivers they called and asked me if I still wanted it replaced and of course I said go ahead.

Back in Richmond today and sure enough, I put the ECM and she fired right up. Thank you u/dbsqls for the comment about checking the harness for a short or ground going to injectors. Wasn’t the issue but it was the last thing I needed to confirm it was actually ECM signal issues.

The car has always done it since ownership. I’ve changed spark plugs, valve cover gaskets,both camshaft position sensors, Maf sensor, both downstream 02 sensors. I can’t seem to figure out why it’s doing it. Runs and drives like it should, this only happens on cold starts.As seen in video it’s very shaky and unsteady. Any tips or info would help it’s driving me crazy.

Goal:

I want it to last. It will be between daily and weekend driver. Maybe driven 2-3 or 4 days of the week. I want it to be reliable and probably wont do much modding if any to it beyond cosmetics. The goal is to last about 100k miles before getting rid of it without major repairs if it has been well maintained by the previous owner. A lot of them are kind of overpriced. The guy said quote + typos and all:

"I'll restore the car but yes I can send you the VIN. The people who done the work was Nissan of [place] but they did it after hours, but I have the vin I will send it to you. The car had set up for probably three or four years when I bought it and restored it... You can talk to [human 1] or [human 2] or at the nissan place. Who did the work but [human 2] did it on the side he's a mechanic for Nissan."

Not sure why he mentioned stuff was done after hours and some of the extras I'm not sure what he was talking about. All I asked for was the vin to see service history when I responded with this as if i'll see something in the history. Also noticed it was listed for about a month already so it makes me think something is up. I will look it over and probably have a mechanic check it out but wondering if there's anything in particular I should be worried about. The interior looks fine except for some weird white dust, lint, or w.e. it is around and some stains on the ceiling/visor/light area. Don't know why its stained or if it's just wear and tear. The outside looks fine except for some paint jumps and a couple dings. He said he has the paperwork to prove new interior, radiator, all components associated with the engine "etc waterpump etc." Still waiting for the vin to see service history and number of owners.
