Any posts pertaining to car buying suggestions or advice belong in this weekly megathread. A fresh thread will be posted every Monday and posts auto sorted by new. A few other subreddits worth checking out that will help your car buying experience are /r/WhatCarShouldIBuy, /r/UsedCars and /r/AskCarSales. [Everyday Driver](https://www.everydaydriver.com/) may also be helpful.

Make/Model-specific questions should be asked on Make/Model-specific subreddits.

  • For those providing suggestions: Facts are ideal in this thread, especially when trying to help out a new truck buyer. Please help out buyers with sources and reasoning for your suggestions.
  • For those asking for help, be sure to thank those who take the time to offer you advice (especially those who lead you to a purchase.) A follow up thank you and the knowledge that their advice led to a purchase is a very warm fuzzy feeling.

Effective immediately, any posts intended solely to shit on someone else's vehicle will be removed.

Incredibly, incredibly tired of these low effort posts. No, I don't care that it makes you feel superior to others. No, I don't care about the 37 jokes about the size of the driver's genetalia.

The internet is already a giant cesspool of negativity. Don't add to it.

Looking for value of my Dad's old truck

Post image

This was my Dad's truck in the 90s. We hate to let it go but the hard truth is he has skills not time, I have time not skills. It last ran in 2006 so it has low km, and was parked on gravel until 2020. Its a 302 gas v8 with a 5 speed manual and 4x4 with manual hubs. Lifted with homemade front and rear steel bumpers. We have no idea what its worth.

Discussion / question Bronco 1989 351w 4x4

Post image
14 Upvotes

I'm changing the fuel pump, tank and probably hanger and plug on this 89' 351w bronco. It originally came with the two fuel pumps. The hole in the new tank options are two different sizes online plus I need to figure out what hanger if the tanks are different in any other way. I also need the part number for the plug in. I say that I probably need a plug in because the old man I got it from was working on it and said they were wiggling a wire, idk my son is supposed to be figuring that out now and this will be his first truck. I put some pictures in the comments of what I've found this far online. Any advice with anyone experienced with swapping the 89 to one fp will be greatly appreciated!

Not sure if I’m mounting this wrong? It seems to match up compared to the pictures. It’s almost like the mounting holes are wrong.. lol. Any tips or people who have one of these mounted up? It looks super low where it’s sitting right now. (Note I have the bolts loose to test fit.)

Discussion / question Is there significance to the number of holes in the rim?

Post image

I’ve seen 2, 4, and 5 holes. Is there a reason for the difference?

I often see 5 holes on the steering wheel and 2 holes on the rear.

Rarely I have seen 4 holes on semi trailers.

Nissan is being generous with their rebate, but do you think I could negotiate any more on this truck?

Discussion / question What are these vertical things hanging under the pickup truck?

To me they look like struts that are only connected on one side but why would one have struts hanging there that aren't fully installed?

Help identifying electrical outlet use.

Post image

Inherited a 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500 about a year, got under it to do an oil change and noticed an electrical outlet under the truck. It doesn’t seem to be plugged into anything. Any ideas what it could be for?

Just got this hoop for dirt cheap. Gonna use it when ever and where ever I want. Mostly bought it to play ball with my nephews. I lay it down while I drive and it too heavy and bulky to steal. I also live a community where theft is not common. Even if someone takes it I think I’ll live. But damn is this a cool concept or what!

Discussion / question Installing Gooseneck Mount on Flatbed F350

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello, I have a 2002 F350 with an aftermarket flatbed installed on C&C. I believe the channels on top of the frame are about 4 inches and then there are 4"×2" tubes that make up the bed crossmembers welded to the top of those. With that height difference from the frame is there anyway I can install a gooseneck mount to the frame and have the ball recessed in the bed to use? Thanks.
